Broncos general manager John Elway made a major trade on Wednesday, agreeing in principle to acquire Joe Flacco, although it was met by a lot of scrutiny from fans and analysts.
Flacco is 34 years old, and clearly, his best football is behind him. Since he won a Super Bowl, which was a bit of a fluke year as is, it’s been all downhill since that time.

Ouch. And that’s the guy Elway is essentially committing to as the team’s starter in 2019. Not only that, the Broncos will give up a mid-round pick to acquire Flacco, although the exact terms of the trade will not be disclosed until it’s finalized next month.
It’s fair to question where Elway’s head has been in the wake of some of the moves he’s made for quarterbacks — Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch — over the past few years. Maybe it’s the company he’s been keeping, such as porn star Dava Foxx, who he was spotted with recently, at Ocean 44 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
