Thanks to Jake Long, St Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford’s football life just got a little easier—and a lot less painful.

According to Pro Football Talk, the former No.1 pick out of Michigan has agreed to terms on a a four-year, $34 million contract, which will pay for the former Wolverine an average of $8.5 million and $16 million guaranteed, with another $4 million that will become fully guaranteed in 2014.

Long’s deal can reach as much as $36 million if he hits certain performance-based incentives.

In landing the former top overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Rams have given Bradford a much needed bodyguard on his blindside.

With the acquisition of 6’7, 319-pound Long along with former Tennessee Titans tight end, Jared Cook gives Bradford a safety blanket on offense to check down too along with some much-needed help on the Ram’s offensive line.

The only question that remains now is will the rams attempt to bring back former wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, who was released by the Patriots?

With the recent losses of Brandon Gibson to Long’s former team—the Miami Dolphins—it may not be out of the realm of possibility, for now, Bradford can rest easier—and hopefully stay off the injury report—now that Long is under the Arches.
