A.J. Hawk could join Atlanta Falcons

Minnesota Vikings v Green Bay Packers

The Falcons are doing a little bird watching in an effort to shore up their depleted linebacking corps.

It would be a desperation move for the Falcons. Hawk, 32, never really has provided a return on the Packers’ investment of the fifth overall pick in 2006. He had a career-high five sacks in 2013, but had just a half-sack the following year and one sack in 2015 after signing with the Bengals as a free agent.

Sean Weatherspoon is out for the season after tearing his Achilles Sunday against the Panthers.

Paul Worrilow (groin), the Falcons’ leading tackler each of the last three seasons, also could miss the rest of the season.

De’Vondre Campbell (ankle) is also injured and rookie Deion Jones hurt his calf in Sunday’s win over the Panthers. Jones has started all four games and had a 90-yard pick-six in the Falcons’ Week 3 win over the Saints.

If the Falcons add Hawk, it would make for some interesting headline material. After all, he’d be an Atlanta Hawk. But at this point in his career it’s hard to see him being enough of a factor for any of that headline fodder to be used.
