This is the offseason and the draft has already passed. Nothing grabs my interest on many NFL websites nor do the writers on many South Florida papers have much to report. However, here at PhinsPhocus.com, there is something to discuss always.
However Reggie Bush made an awesome proclamation on Monday that falls in line with Steve Ross’ proclamation about Chad Henne being the next Marino and the Dolphins having a chance to win a Super Bowl.
Reggie’s prediction of being the leading rusher would be an awesome feat and Dolfans everywhere would be rejoicing, but is it really what the Dolphins need to win?
Looking at last year’s statistics many things jump out. Reggie Bush demonstrated his versatility in 15 games.
Last year Reggie Bush had a career year. In fact, Reggie Bush became the Miami Dolphins go-to big play threat.
Reggie Bush dominated on the ground in key victories and lossess alike. However, one key factor in his play was his ability to be the difference in games vs. the division (AFC East).
Take a look at the following statistics:
Week 1: versus New England- only 38 yards-non-factor in a laughable game played by the defense of Miami.
Week 5: versus The NY Jets- better with 71 yards, most in the first half.
Week 7 versus The NY Giants- 15 carries for 103, a loss, but his first 100 yard game of the season and a sign of things to come.
Down the stretch: Reggie was spectacular-
Week 9 versus the KC Chiefs- 13 carries for 92 yards and a TD
Week 10 versus the Washington Redskins- 14 for 42 yards and 2 TDs
Week 11 versus Buffalo- 15 for 32 and 1 TD
Week 12 versus Dallas- 16 for 61 Yds
Week 13 versus Oakland- 22 for 100 yds
Week 14 versus Philadelphia 14 for 103
Week 15 versus Buffalo: 25 for 203
Week 16 versus New England (Final game due to injury): 22 for 113
Look carefully and highlight the games v. the AFC East: Reggie Bush ran for a combined 457 yards and 2 TDs.
Versus the rest of the Dolphins opponents, Bush ran for 629 yards.
Keep in mind, Reggie Bush in 2011 established a reputation for being an every down back reaching 1,086 yards in 15 games, 6 rushing TDs on
That’s an amazing stat. He did more with less.
However, does Reggie run better versus the AFC East? Grant it, he had 2 touchdowns and did have a game high of 203 yards versus the Bills in snowy and cold Buffalo.
When a lot of anti-Bush people were counting on Daniel Thomas carrying the load after week’s two and three, Reggie took over and dominated on the ground.
I see huge things for Reggie Bush with the West Coast offense improving on his yards per catch as a receiver out of the backfield and giving him opportunities in space.
Reggie Bush has shown what he can do with one offense, let’s see what he can do with a new QB, rookie receivers, and a revamped line.
