Do you want to know what the rest of our rivals in the NFC East did in the draft? I kept track of their draft and have all the picks right here:
Eagles
1st round: Danny Watkins, OG, Baylor
2nd round: Jaiquawn Jarrett, S, Temple
3rd round: Curtis Marsh, CB, Utah St.
4th round: Casey Matthews, LB, Oregon
4th round: Alex Henery, K, Nebraska
5th round: Dion Lewis, RB, Pittsburgh
5th round: Julian Vandervelde, OG, Iowa
6th round: Jason Kelce, OG, Cincinnati
6th round: Brian Rolle, LB, Ohio St.
7th round: Greg Lloyd, LB, UConn
7th round: Stanley Havili, RB, USC
I think the Eagles had a solid draft, historically, these guys have always had pretty good drafts, and Reid and company probably pulled in some much needed help. The Watkins pick was a great pick for them, they added players to fortify their secondary, and their linebacking corps. Casey Matthews was a steal for them, and should do good in their system.
Giants
1st round: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
2nd round: Marvin Austin, DT, UNC
3rd round: Jerrel Jernigan, Troy, WR
4th round: James Brewer, OT, Indiana
6th round: Greg Jones, LB, Michigan St.
6th round: Tyler Sash, S, Iowa
7th round: Da’Rel Scott, RB, Maryland
The Giants strength in this draft was their 1st and 2nd day selections. They beefed up the defensive side of the ball with Prince and Austin, good picks for those guys, they waited awhile to address their aging line, so we’ll see how Brewer fits into those plans. Their draft is similar to ours in some aspects, with 8 picks and some starting guys and depth needs in the later rounds.
Redskins
1st round: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
2nd round: Jarvis Jenkins, DE, Clemson
3rd round: Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami
4th round: Roy Helu, RB, Nebraska
5th round: Dejon Gomes, CB, Nebraska
5th round: Niles Paul, WR, Nebraska
6th round: Evan Royster, RB, Penn St.
6th round: Aldrick Robinson, WR, SMU
7th round: Brandyn Thompson, CB, Boise St.
7th round: Maurice Hurt, OG, Florida
7th round: Markus White, DE, Florida St.
7th round: Chris Neild, DT, West Virginia
The Redskins traded all day and accumulated alot of picks, but outside the 1st and 2nd round picks, I don’t see anything that really scares me or impresses me as much as the Eagles and Giants draft classes. I’m sure they will hit on some of these guys, just on the odds with all the picks, that’s how their draft class looks to me. I do like what they did with the 1st two picks though, those are high motor, immediate impact guys.
