ACC Preview: Top 20 NFL Draft Prospects

Marvin AustinThe ACC has been 2nd or 3rd fiddle when it comes to NFL draft prospects the past 5 years or so, with the Big 12 and of course the SEC dominating the top half of the draft.

 

But with Miami and Florida State back on the rise, Clemson keeping it’s next level talent momentum, and North Carolina having an unbelievable defensive group, the ACC could be the best draft conference in the country this season.

 

1. Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina

Great athlete and a Top 5 talent, his motor is a big question mark that he has to answer.

 

2. Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson (JR)

-Prototypical size and potential, he hasn’t shown dominance…yet. 2010 means a lot.

 

3. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina (JR)

-Another great athletic with unrealized potential, he should explode this year.

 

4. Anthony Constanzo, OT, Boston College

-A potential left tackle, if he can show a little bit more athleticism, he’ll be in the Top 10.

 

5. Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech (RS SO)

-Great combo of size and burst, his speed and running style could make him a 1st rounder.

 

6. Quan Sturdivant, ILB, North Carolina

-Powerful and instinctive inside ‘backer, he’s at the heart of a talented defense at UNC.

 

7. Allen Bailey, DE, Miami (FL)

-Great movement for a end his size, he can fit in many defenses in the NFL.

 

8. Rodney Hudson, OG, Florida State

-An elite college guard, his versatility and movement could make him a 1st round guard.

 

9. Deunta Williams, S, North Carolina

-He moves well across the field, good tackler, and instinctive.

 

10. Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina

-Plays well on the outside in space, Carter needs to show better blitzing and coverage.

 

11. Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State

-Very mobile as a passer with good instincts, he needs to show a good deep ball.

 

12. Sean Spence, ILB, Miami (FL) (JR)

-Lots of potential, hype, and talent, Spence needs to be consistent and a leader.

 

13. Blake DeChristopher, OT, Virginia Tech

-Still a bit raw as a blocker, he likely maxes out as an NFL right tackle.

 

14. Jarvis Jenkins, DT, Clemson

-Not a great talent, he’s a capable starter at the next level with good pass rush moves.

 

15. Greg Little, WR, North Carolina

-Consistent catcher with good size and body control, needs to show breakaway ability.

 

16. Jacory Harris, QB, Miami (FL) (JR)

-Has the smarts and instinctive ability to succeed, he just needs to show it consistently.

 

17. Orlando Franklin, OG, Miami (FL)

-Physical mauler inside, he can play right tackle or guard and is a great run blocker.

 

18. Laron Byrd, WR, Miami (FL)

-NFL ready size and speed, he’ll have a chance to showcase that with a great team.

 

19. Darren Evans, RB, Virginia Tech (RS SO)

-Before Ryan Williams, Evans was the lead man in Virginia Tech. Physical back.

 

20. Mark Herzlich, OLB, Boston College

-Coming off chemotherapy and an amazing recovery, Herzlich was a Top 10 talent.
