Opportunity knocked at the door and the Patriots kicked the door down. With this 27-20 victory over the Chiefs the Patriots will be back in the AFC Championship for the fifth year in a row. Tom Brady had this to say about the win “It was a great win. Took everything we’ve got, so a lot of guys played hard, a lot of guys have been fighting through some stuff. So it’s pretty special to get back to another AFC Championship Game.”
It was definitely a relief to have both Gronk and Edelman back. But there was definitely times where you could tell they have not played in quite some time. Edelman had a couple drops that were right in his hand, but I am not going to be mad at them as I was very happy with their performances this afternoon.
Brady had this to say about having his offensive weapons back “I thought we did a better job today than what we’ve been doing, but I think we can still do a lot better.”
Tom Brady and McDaniels had an exchange of word during the game, Brady calling it “a little miscommunication.” But the feud did not last long it ended in a hug between Brady and is coordinator. Brady had this to say about the exchange “I wanted us to challenge it because we were going to call a timeout, so even if we challenge it we still get the time out. He said, ‘Well that’s what we were doing.’ I said, ‘Why didn’t you let me know?””
In this game I also had time to confirm with myself and other fans around me that Andy Reid has not changed at all. His clock management is still garbage. If the Chiefs had at least decent clock management they probably would have tied this game. You cannot be using two timeouts on your opening drive of the game or run the clock down to the two minute warning when you are down two scores. But I will not complain still a patriot’s win!
It was a great win for the Patriots this afternoon as Gillette was energized and rocking the whole game. We will now wait to see who we will play in the AFC Championship game. Will it be Denver in Denver? Or will it be Pittsburgh in Foxboro? We will find out tomorrow night at 4:30 PM.
