That’s a wrap. The Cowboys hosted their first home game of the preseason, and it was an interesting game filled with a few headlines along the way. A few items are pending, but here’s what we know.
— The Cowboys offensive line is coming along, and has a legit chance of controlling some close games with the running game. They wanted to own possession and move the ball, the 1st teamers have done this thus far.
— Joseph Randle vs Ryan Williams may come down to the final preseason game of the year. Randle probably had game one, and Williams turned it up a notch and took this one. 1-1.
— Davon Coleman will make this team. He’s been active and was creating pressure again in this second game.
— B.W. Webb is not good, dare I say Alan Ball was better. Yikes.
— Gavin Escobar has had some nice catches this preseason. He took a hit and favored his right shoulder, didn’t look in pain on the sideline, but we’ll wait for official word.
— Anthony Hitchens had a bit of off game, didn’t have a solid performance.
— DeVonte Holloman had a neck injury in the 4th quarter and there’s speculation is could be a significant injury. Keep an eye on this update.
— The reserves on offensive line were inconsistent with Weeden at QB. Jeremy Parnell is running out of time, but the Cowboys may be stuck unless someone unseats him
— Dustin Vaughn probably won’t get back to us on the practice squad, he’s been pretty good, better then Caleb Hanie.
— Jamar Newsome continues to make plays, and could see same scenario as above.
— Zach Minter was the defensive player of the game. The Cowboys just signed him and he made an immediate impact, albeit against 3rd teamers. Despite that though, Minter did infact make plays. Sacks and forced fumble. I know its absurdly early, but he could be this year’s Will McClay gem.
