The NFL continued their series of The Top 100 Players of 2011, as voted exclusively by the players themselves. Tonight 60-51 were revealed, and tonight further solidifies Bill Parcells’ legacy in Dallas. Of all the Cowboys in the list, they were all drafted and/or molded by Parcells. Gurode is the exception, but then again, he was drafted in 2002, the year before Parcells took over; however, Parcells turned him the player he is today.
The mystery is over, we now know who the fourth Cowboy is and its Andre Gurode. Gurode was voted #57 by his peers and his piece was narrated by Coach Sparano. Sparano said he was a guard when he came to Dallas and on the verge of going one way or another in this league, meaning he was either going to make it in the NFL or not. Parcells moved Gurode to center and his career has blossomed, tallying up several Pro Bowls in the process.
Here’s tonight’s list:
#60 Justin Tuck, Giants
#59 Jeff Saturday, Colts
#58 Brandon Lloyd, Broncos
#57 Andre Gurode, Cowboys
#56 Ray Rice, Ravens
#55 Carl Nicks, Saints
#54 Asante Samuel, Eagles
#53 Marques Coltson, Saints
#52 Matt Ryan, Falcons
#51 Ndamukong Suh, Lions
The Cowboys voted in earlier were Ratliff (#75), Romo (#72) and Miles Austin (#70)
With 4 of 6 Cowboys voted into the top 100, Ware and Witten remain the last Cowboys to be voted in by their peers, its only of matter of when. I’m guessing at the least top 20, and as high as top 5. Parcells got us some nice groceries, but their shelf life can only go so far, we can only hope that Garrett can supplement these previous draft classes with some hits of his own and get us to the big game.
Stay tuned!
