Air Force came into Saturday’s game planning to use a fake punt in which punter David Baska started running right, just as he did on his first two fake punts this season. The Falcons knew Boise State would be prepared for that. Then when Boise State’s defense pursued him, he would flip it to receiver Mikel Hunter for a reverse.

The play turned out to be ruinous.

The Broncos players said they noticed Air Force made a change in their wedge in front of Baska, which tipped them off a fake was coming. Again, all of this was fine with the Falcons, who wanted Boise State chasing Baska.

“We felt we could get good flow going to our right, to the defense’s left, because that’s something we had done,” Calhoun said. “We thought we could get two blockers on two (defenders) on the edge, and circle the edge. It didn’t work.”

Air Force began the second quarter strong when defensive back Anthony Wright recovered a BSU fumble in the red zone. Wide receiver Zack Kauth caught a 32-yard pass by Jefferson. On the same drive, Warzeka took a shuffle pass for 15 yards and wide receiver Ty MacArthur carried for 12 yards. Later, Jefferson scored on a one-yard quarterback keeper.

However, the Broncos came back with a vengeance when quarterback Kellen Moore passed to wide receiver Matt Miller for a 25-yard gain, then again to wide receiver Geraldo Boldewijn for another 16 yards before Miller received another for a 19-yard touchdown. The Falcons managed to block the extra point kick to trail 13-7.

Man punched, dragged woman in downtown beating

BOISE, Idaho – A 57-year-old Nampa man is facing several charges after he allegedly beat a woman in downtown Boise over the weekend.

Boise Police says a woman was crossing the street near 13th and Main Street early Saturday morning when James Kopp got out of his vehicle and punched her in the head – knocking her to the ground.

Witnesses say they called 911 as they saw the suspect continue to strike the woman and attempt to drag her toward his vehicle. The suspect and woman did know each other.

Witnesses tried to distract the suspect by honking horns and yelling. Police say Kopp left the victim and fled in his vehicle. Officers say they located spotted him speeding on Interstate 84.

Officers stopped the driver, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time.

Kopp has been charged with two felonies – second degree kidnapping and aggravated battery. He was also charged with DUI.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

So what do you all make of WV going to the Big 10 I mean the big 12 with tean teams in it?

Even though there has been no announcement that Missouri is leaving the big 12 the big 12 says it’s adding WV to keep the conference at 10 because Missouri is leaving, fine so the death of the Big East as a football conference is coming, well maybe not yet as the Big East is now talking with the MW and C-USA about their merger , I have no idea how that could possibly work but before all the rats do flee a sinking ship I’m sure the conference will pull out all the stops to keep it from happening.

Now Boise State stance in the MW is a little firmer, and the chance of the coveted BCS AQ status is in their sights, but still all things being equal and looking two years down the road the future Super Pac is where BSU needs to be at and some consistency in staying in the MWC for the next two season makes more sense when taken in lite that we will be losing 14 starters after this season and grooming a new QB. Gratefully MSU will be seeing similar turn over next year so we have a good shot of taking down a B1G school on the road to start next year, which will look good on our resume for entrance to the future Super Pac.

There is plenty doomsday scenario’s out there that the haters are trying to cover for in the event Boise ends up being one of a few undefeated left at the end of the season and they all seem to fear most, yes fear I said it they fear Boise State and they should, that Boise might be one of only two team undefeated at the end of the season. But there is one they haven’t thought of that they should fear even more, and that being this there is multiple undefeated teams but none of them are SEC teams!

Consider this we all know LSU and Bama meet in less than two weeks and let’s say LSU loses to Bama, and Bama loses to Georgia in the SEC Championship game, all the while ACC team lose Big east teams lose and Clemson becomes the only ranked team from the Big east mean while Stanford rolls yet all the other PAC 12 team beat each other up, Same for the B1G Michigan takes down Nebraska just after they take down MSU Wisconsin loses again in the B1G Championship game to say a Michigan State team.

Toledo wins out TCU wins out Nevada Wins out Now what Boise State currently has the 22 best strength of schedule which only really matters in the computers, but if what I just post happens their strength of schedule doesn’t go down like ever one of the haters is predicting but gets better.

Not only is the above scenario create a major dooms day because of the number of undefeated teams but more so because none of them are SEC teams, and with Georgia winning the SEC championship game as a team that lost a home game convincingly to Boise State there will be no way you could put a SEC team into the MNG, and this would break all the heaters hearts. As well all know according to the haters all the games being played outside the SEC are of little to no consequence as the National Champion will be whoever the SEC send to the game.

Now a word from a hater.

Before You Board the Boise State Bandwagon…

College football’s doomsday scenario—a Boise State appearance in the national-title game—is becoming increasingly possible. (Though not yet probable.) But just how absurd would it be, based on the quality of Boise’s competition?

Pretty absurd. Right now, Boise’s schedule strength—which is ranked 27th by CollegeBCS.com—is comparable to fellow contenders Alabama (18th) and Clemson (21st), and it’s ahead of Stanford (66th).

But that’s right now. Once you factor in the remainder of the Broncos’ schedule—and consider the schedule strength of past title-game participants—a far different picture emerges.

Taking it Easy

The teams with the easiest schedules that have made the national-title game:

Boise’s 12 regular-season opponents currently have an average scoring margin of -1.63. (That is, they’re allowing 1.63 more points per game than they’re scoring.) If Boise made the title game, its opponents’ performance would arguably be the worst of any title-game participant.

The only scoring margin in that neighborhood belonged to last year’s Oregon Ducks (-1.65), according to Stats LLC. But that merits a caveat: Because the Pac-12 (then the Pac-10) plays a nine-game conference schedule instead of the usual eight, its teams have fewer easy games and thus have less impressive records.

But the odds of Boise crashing the title game still aren’t as good as the latest Bowl Championship Series standings suggest. Although the Broncos are now No. 4—and poised to pass the loser of the Nov. 5 LSU-Alabama game—it’s expected that Clemson and Stanford would overtake Boise if they stay unbeaten.

Boise State will play for the national championship this season, and it actually deserves that shot.

I practically invented the Boise State’s Schedule Stinks argument, but now I’m going against all that in the attempt, finally, to give this program a chance to prove it really is a superpower worthy of playing for it all.

Let’s start with the obvious.

Every year has to be taken on its own merits, and it’s not fair to give the 2011 team a break for something the 2006 team was able to do, but Boise State hasn’t been a fluke and it has answered the call time and again.

Since 1999, the first 10-win season in this phenomenal run, Boise State is 13-8 against teams that finished with fewer than four losses, winning seven of those games away from home. Since the start of the 2006 season, the Broncos are 8-1 against BCS conference teams.

The team has lost two games in the three-plus years since Chris Johnson and East Carolina ran away with the 2007 Hawaii Bowl. Those two were against an 11-2 TCU in the 2008 Poinsettia Bowl and to a 13-1 Nevada last year.

Sure, few will be convinced that a team that plays one or two BCS league teams per year should be considered in the mix with the top programs from the bigger conferences. The week-in, week-out struggle means something. But this year, what does it really mean to be in a BCS league?

Is it any achievement to beat Florida right now? No. How about South Carolina, Auburn or Tennessee? Boise State already beat Georgia on the road by 14.

Would Boise State beat San Jose State, Duke, Arizona, UCLA, Colorado, Washington State and Washington? Yeah. That’s Stanford‘s schedule so far. And remember, Boise State has stopped Oregon cold the past two times they played.

The Broncos beat Virginia Tech last year in what amounted to a road game. Could they handle Troy, Wofford, Auburn, Florida State, at Virginia Tech, Boston College, at Maryland, and North Carolina? It wouldn’t be a walk in the park, but they could absolutely be 8-0 with Clemson’s schedule.

Toledo almost beat Ohio State at Ohio State, and lost in a controversial overtime game at Syracuse. In between, it was blown away by Boise State at home.

Nevada lost a 35-34 heartbreaker to Texas Tech — the same Texas Tech that beat Oklahoma. The week after that, the Wolf Pack were held to 59 rushing yards by the Broncos.

Fresno State lost by double digits to Cal, Nebraska and Mississippi, but it came up with 444 yards of total offense against both the Huskers and Rebels. The Bulldogs lost 57-7 at home against the Broncos.

Georgia has allowed six touchdown passes this year and hasn’t given up more than one in any one game — except for the three allowed to Kellen Moore in the opener.

Fine, you’re not convinced in any way and you’ll never be sold that a program with five straight double-digit-win seasons, eight in the past nine, 153 wins since 1999, and an average of 12 wins a year for the past 12 seasons doesn’t deserve to even be in the discussion for the BCS Championship Game.

I’m not entirely convinced, either, but I’m working on it. However, none of that matters because Boise State really might end up playing for the national.
