Interim Boise State athletic director Curt Apsey called Big West Conference commissioner Dennis Farrell on Wednesday to gauge interest in taking the Broncos’ other sports if they join the Big East in football, a source with direct knowledge of the conversation told ESPN.com.
On the call, Apsey said the Broncos could be in a predicament in looking for a new home for all of its non-football teams, according to the source. The New York Times reported Boise State was one of a handful of schools that met with Big East officials Sunday to discuss joining the league in football only.

Compensating for the loss of West Virginia to the Big 12, the Big East Conference is poised to ward off its demise one last time by extending invitations to six schools by Tuesday, the New York Post reported.
According to a source, the Big East held a secret meeting Sunday in Washington, at which officials at five of the members hoping for invitations met with several current members to openly discuss all issues.
The parties agreed to invite Air Force, Boise State, Central Florida, Houston, Navy and SMU to join the Big East for the 2013 season. Air Force, Boise State and Navy would join in football only, while Central Florida, Houston and SMU would join as all-sports members.

Air Force meets with Big East leaders
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Air Force officials met with members of the Big East Conference for more than two hours and listened to their presentation on why the league would be a good fit for the Falcons.
Academy spokesman David Cannon said Wednesday night that it was just an informational meeting with Big East Commissioner John Marinatto and Nick Carparelli, the league’s senior associate commissioner.
No invitation was extended as the Falcons consider joining the conference in football only.
Bronco on BYU and realignment: “Those that want us; fantastic. If they don’t, I would rather stand alone.”
BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall responded to the latest round of college football realignment rumors on his Tuesday night KSL Radio show, saying while he “can only speculate,” BYU’s current perceived status as an apparent Big 12 membership also-ran “comes to this really unique issue–just to be very blunt–of culture.”

Boise State Football 2011: Big East Invite Received, But is It Worth Boise’s Time?
West Virginia is looking to leave the Big East and join the Big-12 but that hasn’t stopped the Big East from trying to recruit other schools. It’s reportedthat the Big East has had secret meetings and has already extended an invite to Boise State, Air Force, SMU, Navy, Houston and Central Florida.
Air Force, Navy and Boise State would join as football schools only.
The Big East is a conference that is currently in trouble as they have already lost Syracuse and Pittsburgh and look to have lost West Virginia to the Big-12. Schools like Connecticut and Louisville have also looked to leave. While TCU, a school that was suppose to join has decided to switch and go with the Big-12.
“The landscape in collegiate athletics continues to be a very fluid situation and we continue to be involved in discussions,” Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti said. “We remain extremely confident that the result, once the movement concludes, will be very positive for Rutgers University.”
While many schools claim they will stay independent, it will be interesting to see if Boise State actually bites. Joining the Big East may provide the Broncos with a automatic qualifier to reach a BCS Bowl game. Which is something they so desperately want.
It should be fun to see how this one plays out.

Bi-Week is getting pretty loud with all the talk of Big East offers and what appears to be a don’t look now but Boise just may well play in the MNCG, and everyone thought last year was the year.
Some simple facts the B1G has deluded itself the big east has no one’s respect and the ACC is suspect, the SEC hasn’t been as dominate in the past and everyone must remember why they put OU and Oregon so high up in the polls in the first place, because we all knew the SEC isn’t nearly as strong as it has been in the past.
So last year the Great debate started after the Oregon State game this year it starts after a hard fought win over Air Force, and over the next two weeks leading up to the TCU game it will start to boil and after we dispatch TCU it goes to doomsday frenzy.
Prepare your selves Bronco Nation because as we go into conference championship week you will hear hatred like you have never heard before. I dare say it the only wise thing for a Bronco fan to do during the games is to not watch, the haters will be out In full force spewing as only they can.
