BCS sticks Boise State’s Moore with flop finale

Kellen Moore deserves a better send off.

The Boise State quarterback, who has more victories as a starter than any college quarterback in history, will conclude his brilliant career Thursday night at the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas against Arizona State, a 6-6 team that has already had its coach fired.

What a waste.

In many ways there is no more damning indictment of the Bowl Championship Series and college football’s bloated bowl postseason than Moore and this group of Boise State seniors being relegated to a third-tier game.

Even mild-mannered coach Chris Peterson finally snapped at the BCS after his team’s latest snub. The Broncos were No. 8 in the final AP Top 25 for the regular season.

“Everybody is just very tired of the BCS,” Petersen told reporters in Idaho earlier this month. “I think that’s the bottom line. Everybody is frustrated. Everybody doesn’t really know what to do anymore. It doesn’t make sense to anybody. I don’t think anybody is happy anywhere.

“The whole thing needs to be changed, there’s no question about it,” he said. ” … I think (change) is coming, I really do.”

A great season can’t be tarnished

The Lompoc Braves football team has to be feeling a little like the Boise State Broncos of California high school football.

The Braves capped off a perfect season, winning all of their 14 games, but were bypassed by state officials for the Division 3 championship game.

College football fans have seen this kind of disrespect for winning programs, especially with regard to Boise State, which had perfect seasons in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009 — yet never was invited to play in the national championship game.

Which Minor Bowl Game Are You Most Excited About?

About three months ago, you journeyed to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, beheld the rare sight of Southerners attempting to use a commuter mass transit system, saw the University of Georgia Bulldogs unveil the worst Oregon rip-off football uniforms conceivable without the use of hallucinogens or the creative input of Haysi Fantayzee and — most importantly — watched your beloved small-conference strivers, the Boise State Broncos, completely dismantle a team that would eventually win the SEC’s Eastern Division.

DP quarterback Nick Patti wins 8A state Player of the Year honor

Dr. Phillips quarterback Nick Pattiwas voted Class 8A football Player of the Year and becomes one of eight finalists for the 2011 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football award. Patti, who has committed to sign with Boise State, passed for 2,114 yards and 23 touchdowns and ran for 626 yards and seven scores as a senior. He set school career records for pass completions (374), yards (5,701) and TDs (66).

Boise State LT Nate Potter earns consensus All-America honors;

[email protected]

Boise State senior left tackle Nate Potter has earned consensus All-America honors.

He is the second such honoree since the Broncos began playing at the Football Bowl Subdivision level in 1996. The other was left tackle Ryan Clady in 2007.

Potter was named to the Sporting News All-America first team Thursday, the last of five NCAA-recognized teams unveiled. Potter also made the Football Writers Association of America first team and the Associated Press and Walter Camp second teams. He was not on the American Football Coaches Association team.

Some organizations, like Sporting News, only do one team. Some do two teams and AP does three teams. NCAA consensus All-Americans are those named to at least three teams, according to the Mountain West. That’s a change from when Clady was honored. That year, the consensus picks were determined through a points system, and Potter would have qualified that way, too.

I like Nate and he certainly has some skills but I have to tell you he had a down year this year, not hating on him just would like to point out there are others who didn’t give up sacks, who didn’t get holding calls who didn’t get offsides and got zero shout outs.. Chuck Hays being one of them..  Just sayin if they are going to give Nate all this love their are others that earned it as well…
