Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson sees a lot in Kellen Moore
“I’ve studied them all the time before we play them just to see what they do, Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson said on studying Boise State, “they have a tremendous plan in what they do to take advantage of the players that they have. It’s fun to watch on tape, but I don’t know how much fun it will be to watch them tomorrow night.”
“Kellen is one of the better quarterback in college football, in my opinion,” ASU coach Erickson said on the Broncos’ quarterback, “He knows the game and understands it and just makes plays. He throws it where no one can think he can throw it, for touchdowns.”
”He was raised the right way,” ASU coach Erickson on the Moore family, “when you are raised in a family like him and his brother, it’s special and you can see that when you watch him play.”
Looks like the Boys have been having some well-earned fun.
Man the Doug have moves on and off the field.. Man crush legend grows!
College Football: Boise State can Stomp Sun Devils in Las Vegas
The verdict
Last season Boise State beat Utah 26-3 in Las Vegas, and the Utes actually cared about that game. Just imagine what the Broncos are going to do to the Sun Devils. Doug Martin and Kellen Moore have one last dance together and Chris Petersen will be sure to make it a memorable one. Against an Arizona State defense which is awful against the pass, I like Boise State to light it up. It’s going to be a touchdown feast so take the over of +65.5 points and the Broncos should also cover as -13.5 favorites with ease. An easier path to the BCS is around the corner but for now Boise State will make do with dominant wins over big conference foes.
It’s not that that they can it’s that there are going to …

MAACO Bowl Las Vegas gives Boise State, ASU singular focus away from disappointing finishes
“We’re all about this game,” Petersen told reporters Wednesday before a luncheon in advance of the game. “We’ve kind of preached to our guys about living in the moment, and living day to day, so that’s just kind of how we think as coaches.”
Arizona State is taking the same approach after a season where both teams expected to finish by playing in a bigger bowl.
Finishing 6-6 with a four-game losing streak cost Sun Devils coach Dennis Erickson his job, though he stayed on to coach his team in its first postseason appearance since 2007.
He said the prospect of being out at ASU won’t fully hit him until after the game.
“That’s all I’ve ever done,” Erickson said of being involved in football. “I couldn’t make any decisions on anything right now.” Read More here.
MAACO Bowl Betting: Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Boise State Broncos
Why Arizona State Will Win
When you do your homework and assess your sports bet on this game, the only way the 6-6 Sun Devils can stay in the building with Boise State is if Boise State grumbles its way through this contest. BSU head coach Chris Petersen wasn’t much interested in Arizona State at a press conference last week, just after the end of the regular season. He lashed out at the BCS system, saying that everyone is “tired” of it and that a new system needs to be put in place. Petersen made these comments after his 11-1 team – the owner of an impressive win at Georgia in a season-opening neutral-site game played in Atlanta – was passed over for the Sugar Bowl by a Virginia Tech team that didn’t possess a single non-conference win that could begin to compare with Boise State’s triumph over Georgia. Moreover, Virginia Tech suffered two blowout losses to Clemson, whereas Boise State lost by one point to TCU on a touchdown and 2-point conversion in the final minute of regulation, followed by a missed field goal by the Broncos on the last play of the game. Clearly, on the merits, Boise State deserved the Sugar Bowl berth more than Virginia Tech, but the BCS reaffirmed the extent to which it rewards friendships and connections more than pure football resumes.
Boise State, for all it has accomplished over the past four years, has received only one BCS bowl bid . The Broncos have gone 22-2 over the past two regular seasons, but have now been sent to Las Vegas in the bowl season for two straight years. If Boise State doesn’t care about playing this game, Arizona State can swoop in and pick up a surprising victory. The matchup is uneven on paper, but if the heavy favorite is disinterested, the calculus can and will change very quickly.
Boise State’s Matt Miller, Arizona State’s Brock Osweiler renew a rivalry that began in Montana
Miller (Capital) and Osweiler (Flathead High in Kalispell) have been competing on football fields and basketball courts since high school. Osweiler was the 2008 football Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior; Miller won the same award during his senior year in 2009.They became friends as well as rivals, with Osweiler hosting Miller and his family on their recruiting visit to Tempe, Ariz., and giving Miller advice during his recruitment. They watch each other’s games and trade text messages — most recently on the day they learned they would play in the same bowl game.“He’s a genuine, good human being,” Miller said. “… He’s another guy who’s really focused on representing the state the best he can.”

Cincinnati and Boise State: There’s a Connection There. Probably
The Basics
Boise State is located in Boise, Idaho (go figure!) and is nestled beautifully next to the Rocky Mountains. But if you’re looking for it on a map, you’ll be hard pressed to find it. Heck, most of the United States probably couldn’t find the state of Idaho on a map before this movie came out. I’m talking of course about Napoleon Dynamite, duh. I mean, what other movie can you think of that’s based in Idaho? You can’t. Because there are none.
For Cincinnati fans, Boise State is waaaaay out there when it comes to traveling to a game. To my surprise, CVG actually has flights to Boise. It’s roughly a 7 hour trip and you’ll have a layover somewhere but it’s not like you’ll have to fly into an airport an hour away and drive to Boise, a la going to Morgantown for a WVU game where you have to avoid hitting burnt couches and passed out moonshiners on your way. All-in-all, outside of the travel time, roadies to Boise State would be pretty nice, especially around winter time when you can make a weekend out of it by hitting the slopes on the nearby mountains. Plus you’ll be hard pressed to find a more prestine landscape to play a football game than Boise, Idaho.
Oregon State paid big to see Boise blue
In the Dec. 13 issue of ESPN The Magazine, I write about one of the nastiest rivalries in sports: the battle between FieldTurf and AstroTurf to make the perfect artificial field. What I didn’t get to write about was another turf war also having to do with Oregon State
the Beavers squared off against the Boise State Broncos, keepers of one of the most famous fields in football. “What the swoosh is to Nike, the blue field is to Boise State,” athletic director Gene Bleymaier recently told The Los Angeles Times.
So when an anonymous donor paid for OSU to paint its practice field the same color as the Broncos’ “Smurf Turf” before their Sept. 25 nationally televised matchup, it got me wondering …
What did that little stunt cost?
These receipts, obtained under a public information request, show that the Beavers shelled out $11,060 to get their field ready for the big game.
But the best part is what happened after the Broncos won 37-24. As this letter from Oregon State assistant athletic director John Cheney shows, Boise State fans started ringing his office, asking for any leftover paint so they could take a brush to their own lawns.
It’s an old in-article that’s just been release for general consumption I thought you all would be interested in it.

High school/community college: Laney’s Connor Peters to attend Boise State

In a surprising twist, Laney College freshman tight end Connor Peters signed a letter of intent with Boise State on Wednesday.
Peters, a former De La Salle High star, fully expected to sign with San Diego State as a midyear transfer early Wednesday morning. But he changed his mind when Boise State — his dream destination all along — offered him a scholarship before the Federal Express packet arrived from the Aztecs.
“Oh man, I never felt better,” Peters said of how things turned out.
Peters, who is 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, is excited to be joining his former Spartans teammate Blake Renaud, a true freshman linebacker, with the Broncos. Peters said Renaud was “blown away” when he learned that they would be teammates again.
“It’s huge,” Peters said. “The biggest thing to me is I always wanted to play college football with someone I played high school football with.
“We won a state championship together, and I get to go on and play with him for three or four more years.”
Laney assistant coach John Beam said the Broncos liked Peters all along but lacked a scholarship for him. Even Beam expected Peters to ink with San Diego State.
“He’s only going to get better,” Beam said. “Boise State needs an edge blocker. They don’t have that guy on campus right now.”
Peters, who had 13 receptions for 151 yards this season for the Eagles (2-8), took a recruiting trip to Fresno State and was recruited by Utah, among other

Kellen Moore confident of playing in NFL
Boise State QB gets high praise from Dennis Erickson, who tried to recruit him while coach at Idaho
By Chadd Cripe
Idaho Statesman
LAS VEGAS — Boise State senior Kellen Moore says he’s confident he’ll make it in the NFL.
The Broncos’ record-setting, 6-foot quarterback has fans and skeptics among NFL personnel — and they’ll debate each other on TV shows and in newspapers for the next four months.
He’s exactly what coaches want mentally, but far from the prototype physically.
“I’ve been doing this for a while,” Moore said. “I’ve played with a lot of different teams and had a lot of success. Not too concerned.
“… The bottom line is you want to continue to play. You think you’re capable of it. The only thing you can do right now is play well in a bowl game.”
Moore hasn’t determined exactly how he will prepare for the NFL draft in April, he said.
It’s good to see Cripe pick up some extra cash getting his work printed in a major New Paper.
My son seems to think Seattle SeaHawks will be the team that gets him and use him straight away, I’m leaning towards the Bears which would be just horrible.. but more on that next year.
