Nevada is not crying the Blues.
When Boise State joined the Mountain West Conference this season, it did so with the condition it would not wear all-blue uniforms during home game on its blue turf because of a potential unfair competitive advantage.
However, that ruling only applied to conference games. When Nevada travels to Boise State this weekend, the game will be a non-conference tilt and the Broncos will wear their blue shirts and pants on the Smurf Turf.
While most coaches admit locating the numbers of players during the game is difficult because of the color scheme, Wolf Pack coach Chris Ault said he had no issues with Boise State’s uniforms.
“We have not lost to a uniform yet,” Ault said. “It’s the guys inside of it. Take the guys inside of the jerseys out, and I wouldn’t have any issues.” Here
Wolf Pack quarterback Tyler Lantrip agreed that Boise State’s uniform color is a non-issue.
“It’s really not a big deal,” Lantrip said. “I think they banned it from the Mountain West, but it’s 11-on-11 out there.”
Well we have to give them some credit for not being cry babies about it like say Tusa coach or Paterson.
BYU, Boise State extend football series to 12 games through 2023

In the midst of speculation and rumors regarding its future place on the college football landscape, BYU announced tonight that it has extended an agreement with Boise State to play the Broncos for 12 straight years, instead of just four.
The new, 12-year home-and-home series begins in 2012 at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho.
Here are the dates:
Sept. 22, 2012 — at Boise
Oct. 26, 2013 — at Provo
Oct. 25, 2014 — at Boise
Sept. 12, 2015 — at Provo
Oct. 15, 2016 — at Boise
Oct. 7, 2017 — at Provo
Oct. 20, 2018 — at Boise
Oct. 12, 2019 — at Provo
Oct. 17, 2020 — at Boise
Oct. 9, 2021 — at Provo
Oct. 8, 2022 — at Boise
Oct. 14, 2023 — at Provo
The most noticeable aspect of the new agreement is that 10 of the 12 games are scheduled to be played in October.
Is that a signal that BYU and Utah can’t work out a deal to continue playing beyond next year?
Or does it mean the Cougars and Broncos both plan on being in the Big 12 in the future, and this will simply morph into a league game?
Or is it a sign that BYU is not going to join the Big 12 after all and is simply ensuring quality opponents through the year 2023?
Who knows?
The Cougars are 0-2 all-time to the Broncos, having lost to Boise State in 2003 and 2004.
“Boise State has established itself as one of the premier football programs in the country,” said BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe is a school news release. “Playing the Broncos regularly makes a lot of sense for two regional opponents with great football traditions. We are excited about the series.”
So much for MWC schools — Boise joined that league this fall — not willing to play BYU any more after the Cougars bolted that league, huh?
I’m all for this match up, as some have speculated could this be a sign of a Big12 move, or maybe even a signal to the Big 12 by BYU who knows. I do know I look forward to seeing the boys in blue to continue to dominate BYU for the next decade and more.
Boise State Interim AD addresses Big 12 reports, Mountain West-Conference USA merger talk
Boise State is at least being mentioned as a candidate to join the Big 12, according to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.
Wilner wrote the Big 12 could lose Missouri to the SEC and add Boise State, BYU, Louisville and West Virginia to get back to 12 teams. BYU and Boise State announced a 12-year series through 2023 today.
Interim Athletic Director Curt Apsey said Boise State has not been contacted by the Big 12.
“We haven’t yet,” Apsey said Wednesday. “I can tell you we’re focused on putting ourselves in the best position going forward. We’re very excited about being in the Mountain West Conference. We continue to keep our eyes open and our ears open. That’s kind of still where we’re at.
“I think the Big 12 is looking at all different kinds of options. If our name is being brought up that says a lot about where we are as a program. That’s something that’s good for us no matter what happens.”
Apsey was in Dallas this week at a meeting of Division I athletic directors. At the meeting, he was briefed on the Mountain West-Conference USA football-only merger talks.
“I think it’s a long way from being finalized. We’re very pleased with how proactive the conference is being and they’ve set themselves up to be as successful as they can. It’s one of the ways they’re looking at it. We’re pleased with Craig Thompson and that group in terms of being proactive and making sure they’re looking toward the future,” Apsey said.
