Free agent outfielder Josh Reddick has agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal with the Houston Astros, as Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports first reported on Thursday. Passan reports the deal is pending a physical.
Reddick, 29, hit .281 for the Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Dodgers last season with 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 37 RBIs in 115 games. He was traded from Oakland to Los Angeles at the Aug. 1 deadline along with pitcher Rich Hill.
The Astros are getting an above-average defender in Reddick, who is capable of playing multiple positions in the outfield. The deal for Reddick comes shortly after Houston traded for catcher Brian McCann from the New York Yankees earlier today.
The Astros look to determined to get back to the postseason after falling short in the AL Wild Card race this past season.
