The Avengers : Age of Ultron SDCC Teaser Trailer Leaked Online! Watch it Here!

Colorado Avalanche v Pittsburgh Penguins

If you weren’t able to go to the San Diego Comic Con this year, unfortunately you missed out. The announcement of a Batman/Superman crossover film, Tom Hiddleston crashing the Marvel panel as Loki, Bryan Cranston walking around wearing a Walter White Mask were just some of the highlights. One major event was also the release of The Avengers: Age Of Ultron teaser, which was introduced by director Joss Whedon. “I don’t have anything to say. But, I do have something to add.” Stated Whedon before the footage below was played.

Even though it is just an announcement teaser, it still raises a lot of questions as well as excitement for fans of the Marvel films/characters. It has been noted that it will be Tony Stark not Hank Pym (aka Ant Man) that will be the creator of Ultron. Also, the subtitle of the film “Age Of Ultron” will not be derived from the comic series, rather will be a separate story of its own.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Ultron character. He was created by Hank Pym as a robot with consciousness. Given an AI based on the brain patterns of his own, Ultron gained the power to think for himself, as well as gaining great intellect from Pym (a scientific genius), but also gaining Pym’s inherent mental instability. To Pym’s surprise, the robot developed an advanced intellect within moments of its activation, and an unexpected capacity for emotion; most notably, it was filled with irrational hatred for its “father” Pym and the human race Pym represented. (Marvel.com)

In short, Ultron is an insane robotic being with the AI of a genius, the ability to rebuild itself and make itself stronger every time its defeated, and who is hellbent on destroying the human race due to their existence being “illogical”. To make a comparison, Ultron is the Brainiac of the Marvel World.

I see this move more as a shocker for Marvel fans. A lot of us expected Thanos to be the head villain for the upcoming Avengers movie due to the end of credits scene after the first one. According to Joss Whedon, Thanos will play a huge factor in upcoming films, but until then we’re given Ultron. I’ve always been a fan of the Ultron character (he’s a killer robot, and to anyone who’s played the old Captain America and the Avengers arcade game, Ultron was easily the hardest boss). He’s a bit unknown to the mainstream Marvel fan, but after this film comes out, he could be put on the same levels of popularity that previous villains (Loki) have obtained.

Also announced is the voice of Ultron, who will be none other than James Spader (Boston Legal, The Office). While I’m not really a fan of Spader (his character Robert California, along with Catherine Tate’s Nelle character nearly ruined The Office), I’ll give in to the fact he has a very intimidating voice and is definitely is the right fit for Ultron’s tone.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled to be released summer 2015.
