Bernhard Langer was considered by many to be a favorite to win this years U.S. Senior Open going into this week. With two rounds left to play, he’s well within striking distance of the leaders.
Langer’s precision on the course is what keeps him in a position to win tournaments week in and week out. That precision has been on display at the Salem Country Club the past two days. With 36 holes played so far, Langer has only missed the fairway two times. He has only shot three bogeys thus far, and has birdied 11 times. The 59 year old German recorded birdies on holes 4 and 14 in both round one and two.
After playing alongside Kenny Perry (-11) yesterday, Langer’s play improved drastically from the first round. Now only three strokes behind Perry and co-leader Kirk Triplett, Langer, who just teed off to start his third round, looks to close the gap going into Sunday.
