Boise State, Michigan the game that could have been.

In an effort to try not to sound too hypocritical, selection Sunday I had all but believed a Boise State vs. Michigan match up was going to be the end result of the selection committee. Though Michigan really had no more right being there then V-Tech I had none the less excepted that a team whom only by the grace of luck beat Notre Dame (bowl game loser), beaten up by Iowa (bowl Game Loser) and man handled by little brother MSU was going to be given a BCS bowl based on a shorten game win over Western Michigan (bowl game loser) with marquee game wins over Illinois, Nebraska and osu all bowl game losers. Fact is the only team the Meatchickens have actually beaten that has won a Bowl game was Purdue with their 37-32 victory over 4^th place MAC Western Michigan. So please forgive my hypocrisy of including the Meatchickens in a BCS bowl Game that should have been against Boise State.

The one thing clearly missing this Bowl season is defense and frankly this has provide us with truly hideous games, that being said the Defense Boise State showed the nation against  PAC12 ASU was stifling giving up only minus 11 yards rushing , yes you read that right ASU finished the game with minus 11 yards, this certainly wouldn’t have bolded well for the Meatchickens who ran far more than they passed in 2011. If we look inside the numbers and do some comparing to MSU’s match up with both Georgia and the Meatchickens we would see that the Meatchickens were over powered over matched undersized and slow as compared to Georgia and MSU.  Looking closely at the MSU Georgia game it was easy to see why Curt Cousins is so well like by MSU fans but clearly he’s no Kellen Moore while Cousins completed 28 of 51 passing for 318 yards he also threw 3 int’s  and one TD while Moore destroyed the Dawg defense going 28 of 34 and 3 TD’s.  As well MSU highly talked about rushing attack was only able to gain 73 yards on 29 carries for only 2.5 yards per attempt while Boise States Rush attack put up 129 yards on 37 attempts.

Boise State Defense of scheme and talent would have been way too much for the Meatchickens and anyone with basic football knowledge knows this , across the front Boise State D Line was Bigger strong and faster than any Defense the Meatchickens had faced all year, add in Boise’s well develop 4-2-5 scheme with end Tyrone and Shea playing both as end and OLB this would have been a nightmare match up for the Meatchickens.  If the Meatchickens had a hard time dealing with Iowa’s defense they would of suffered total domination at the hands of Boise State.

Turing this match up around the Meatchickens defense against Boise State offense would of made the prospects of this game all the more gloomy for a Meatchicken fan. In games against Notre Dame and OSU home games as well the Meatchickens defense was torched by lack luster offenses for a combined 65 points! More than likely the point total Boise would of put up this day against the Meatchicken.

As  4^th ranked b1g defense the Meatchickens would have been lite up by the weapons at Kellen Moores disposal, the likes of Doug Martin would of run over undersized Meatchicken linemen and LB’s and outpaced a weak Meatchicken secondary for large gains. The myriad of receives at Kellens beck and call would of over loaded the Meatchickens defensive back field leaving them to look weak and feeble as they had displayed all season. Early Vegas odd’s makers would have had the line -8 or -9 points  Boise State and keep it there because so many Meatchicken fans would of handed their wallets over to the smart gambler and Bronco nation so there would be no need to widen the spread.

The fact is ASU has more talent than the Meatchickens and certainly this would account for why the margin would be even larger than the 56-24 drumming the mighty Bronco’s put on them.

As I have stated twice before on this blog the Meatchickens and the b1g didn’t want to be matched up with the Bronco’s and used their influence and money to arrange their patzy, only problem for them is their patzy  just might put the finally touches on showing the rest of American of just how over rated the b1g is. Coming into this game tonight the b1g is 3 of 9 the last two years with only wins by Purdue over a 4^th place MAC school Illnios over a 8^th place PAC 12 school and their second place finisher MSU over the 5^th highest ranked SEC school, all but a missed chip shot even saved that win for the b1g.

So today Bronco Nation pulls for the Hokies that they might vanquish the Meatchickens and send them back to ann arbor with their tails between their legs, then tomorrow we set our eyes to Sparty and eastlansing so that we might get some taste of revenge.

The Irony of this matchup is that like the outback bowl yesterday with the MSU side nearly half empty the Sugar Bowl will have similar issues, while this won’t suffer the bowl so much because of forced ticket buys to the schools New Orleans will miss out on what the bowl is supposed to do for them and that is fill hotel rooms, this should be slightly off set by the MNCG and the home NFL playoff game against the Lions this Saturday, but still millions of dollars will be lost that might otherwise gone to found the cities continued recovery all for the sake in an attempt to save the b1g and the Meatchickens some face. The greatest Irony of all as the end of the Kellen Moore era has come to a close for Bronco nation we just might owe the Meatchickens for the gift of Nick Patti, for without the firing of RR Nick Patti would be flying into Ann Arbor in two weeks instead of Boise, and a new era of Bronco football begins in just 3 months!
