Boise State vs ASU Who has the biggest Chip on their shroulder?

ASU starter off this season hot and while it is true they dropped their last 4 games, the team does have talent. I can’t speak yet to what caused the collapse at the end of the season for ASU they were certainly in every game including the criminal U game a game that went to half 17-21 and unlike all other criminal U games didn’t result in a total blow final 27-41. ASU other losses 1 point to UCLA, 10 points to Washington State, 4 AZ and 9 to Cal. Other than a 17 -14 loss to a later collapsing Illinois ASU scored 29 points and more in every game including a 43-22 destruction of USC.

How many times have seen a team get into a bowl game based on the first half the season performance lose a handful of close games and after backing their way into a bowl game surprise everyone with a strong performance and blow out wins.  Dennis Erickson might be out as coach but make no mistake the man knows how to win and coach and has plenty of big time bowl experience he will want to go out with a win over our Mighty Broncos. There is much to fear in the ASU to and certainly Boise State has plenty of reasons to hate where they find themselves.

Fear and hate can go two ways, we can go to Vegas with are heads held low and run into a primed ASU team and get embarrassed, or we can go in there like we are playing LSU, supremely focused and mad as hell ready to crush our fear of failure. I believe that is just how Chris Petersen will have this team prepared.

There is much to fear in ASU offense Junior QB Brock Osweiler at 6’8” may be a big target for the fearsome foursome of Boise State Winn, Crawford Baker and Mc Clellin but at 240lbs as well and mobile he is going to present a new challenge. Brock also isn’t a bad thrower, throwing for 3600+ yards 63.1 completion % 24 TD’s and a 140 QB rating. Brock also has 128 yards rushing on 75 attempts with 3 TD so he’s not afraid to get out there and run.

Cameron Marshall is a heady running back as well running for 1038 yards this year with 18 TDs at times this year he has shown the ability to score from anywhere on the field with a 70 TD

One really need to build up this ASU team when you look at the numbers they were in every game, they gave no one a real easy win and no Doubt this ASU team was a bounce here a play there away from playing in the PC 12 Championship game with a shot at the Rose Bowl.

If there is one thing that has stood out to me these last 2 weeks as we wait this team, with its talented seniors prepare to play their finally game for Boise State, it’s the silent preparation. As finals came around and as we seen them through graduation just 3 days ago then off to Los Vegas the facebooks activity was all business. The total lack of activity speaks to the seriousness this team is taking ASU.

All year as I have absorbed these young men on line I have never seen them so singularly focused so understanding the message that needs to be sent.

Last year vs Utah they started off slow on Offence while the Defense held the line. Don’t look for that to happen. If the tone and seriousness of these players is saying anything to this writer its telling me they are looking to play the best complete game they have ever played, they are looking to send a no doubter message to the college football world and they have every intention to play all 60 minutes start to finish with furry.  ASU may believe they are the ones coming in with a chip on their shoulders, they may be thinking of sending their own message, but they are about to run into the King of shoulder chips a machine so focused and so filled with desire they are going to regret even stepping on the field.

Allow me to make a prediction in this game and that prediction is PAIN!!! The fearsome Foursome of Winn McClellin Baker and Crawford, supported by seniors Hout and Tevis wll take a bead on Brock and his 6’8” frame making him a huge target. I look for George Iloka to be a ball hawk and a run stopper delivering crushing blows to receivers and ball carriers alike.

With rest Doug Martin is going to unleash the inner beast along with the extra bowl practice Kellen and the host of receivers he has at his disposal are going to show the football world what timing and precision really looks like. With power runs screen plays timing routs Boise States offense is going to cut up the ASU defense like a week whacker knocking down tall grass. Be the start of the 3rd quarter the only people left watching this game are Boise State fans and those who like watching train wrecks!

This game will make those weak of heart turn their heads.

ASU certainly is a quality team and certainly will be lose and freewheeling for about 7 minutes after that it’s going to like being trapped at the bottom of the sea on empty air tanks gasping for breath just struggling to survive, a living night mare.

A perfect storm has arrived in Vegas and it will not leave until it does it work.
