Boston College starts off the 2015 football season against Maine on Saturday September 5th at 1pm et. BC has some potential national attention players like RB Jon Hilliman, and RB/WR Sherman Alston. QB Darius Wade, who was redshirted last year as a freshman then played a few snaps, will most likely take the starting job. New faces are around the BC team as chemistry could be a issue for the Eagles as the season is a week away. We will see how third year coach Steve Addazio organizes the offense with his quick snap counts and running style offense which can be deadly to other teams. Defense is where things could be magical for the Eagles. LB Steven Daniels is the Jerod Mayo of BC and could be a relatively high draft pick if he shows what he can do with his 6′ 257 pound frame.
Maine is a flexible team with talent all around. QB Dan Collins and QB Drew Belcher were competing heavily for the starting job. Collins ultimately won the starting job but suffered a season ending injury during Week 6 vs Stony Brook. Belcher stepped in and led the Black Bears to a 3-2 record after Collin’s departure. RB Nigel Beckford is also a threat for the Eagles so its necessary to try and stuff the run game of the Black Bears. Maine also lost a good amount of receivers to the NFL, so the receiving core will be new and not as experienced. Your real problem against Maine is the linebackers. Senior Cabrinni Goncalves and Junior Christophe Mulumba Tshimanga are watching the QB’s like bears in the wild and racking up tackles on every play. Combined last year, they made 219 tackles! The duo is back in action for another historical year for the Black Bears!
