Brady Leads Patriots To Win In Bay Area Homecoming Game

mayodraftday

The Patriots were back to their old ways today playing sloppy in the first half before waking up and playing a strong second half. But it was enough to lead the Patriots to a 30 to 17 victory in Brady’s old stomping grounds. Brady put the team on his back today as he was easily the best player out there all day but Blount definitely gave him a run for his money as he also had a quality game.

The Patriots defense looked unstoppable on paper as at the first half they already had five sacks, three forced fumbles, and only gave up 10 points. But watching them with your own eyes you saw a totally different team. A team that could stop the run but was just terrible at defending the 49ers passing game.

Along with Brady, Blount was a bull today an absolute bull as he plowed through the 49ers line on multiple occasions. Blount went over 100 yards for the fourth time this season as he finished the day with 19 carries for 124 yards.

It also felt like a home game as the Brady chants echoed throughout Levi Stadium. Brady put on a show today going 24-for-40 for 280 yards and four touchdowns. Tom Brady had 4 TD passes and 0 INT for the 21st time in his career that is the most by any player in NFL history.

It is now time for the weekly Stephen Gostkowski update and we have taken some strides backward today. I have been following this since week 1 trying to follow the struggles of Gostkowski hoping that he will snap out of his funk. But this week he took a small step back in his progress to be where he use to be, before last year’s AFC Championship game in Denver. Gostkowski

Gostkowski went 1-for-1 on field goals but went 3-for-4 on extra points. That’s right Gostkowski missed his first kick of the game wide right. Yes, we could say that the rain was a factor but at the same time it’s an extra point you kind of have to expect there to go through. I can only wonder how much longer Bill Belichick and his staff can tolerate this before they will start to reevaluate the kicker position. I hope he snaps out of it I really do he is one of the best kickers to ever play the game and I want him to stay on the Pats.

But kicking was not a problem just for the Patriots this week as it seemed the whole NFL could not kick as there was a total of 11 missed extra points today so far. That is the most missed extra point since 1966. In the entire 2011 season: 7 Entire 2012 season: 6 Entire 2013 season: 5 Entire 2014 season: 8 So far today: 11

Well thinking about that just keep this in mind in 2011 there was a total of 7 missed field goals, in 2012 6 were missed, in 2013 5 were missed, in 2014 8 were missed. This week alone 11 were missed, needless to say, not a good week to be a kicker in the NFL.

The Patriots will now get ready to take the trip to New Jersey to take on the Jets next Sunday. That game is now at 4:25 pm and not the original 8:30 Sunday Night Football.
