ASHBURN, VA —  According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, (7-6) Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins will start on the road against the resurgent (5-8) Cleveland Browns.

Cousins, a fourth-round pick out of Michigan State, would come on in relief for starter Robert Griffin III, who would suffer a LCL sprain, and lead the Redskins to a dramatic 31-28 comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Cousins would go 2-for-2 for 26 yards, highlighted by a 11-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Pierre Garcon with 29 seconds remaining in regulation.  Washington would go on to kick the game-winning field goal, courtesy of Kai Forbeth.

With Griffin III out, Cousins is tasked with the assignment of facing one of the hottest teams in the NFL that no one is talking about—Cleveland.  Cleveland, who would start 0-5, have won five out their last eight games, and are currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak.

During the streak, the Browns have wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks, most recently Brady Quinn of the Kansas City Chiefs, who would be sacked five times in a 30-7 victory.

With the more mobile and athletic Griffin III out, Cousins will have to rely more on quick passes and good play calling in the hopes of keeping the opportunistic Browns defense at bay.

If Washington hopes to keep it’s slim playoff hopes alive, look for a heavy dose of running back Alfred Morris and timely play-action downfield to Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon and Leonard Hankerson.

For the Browns, this is another lucky break for a team, that is suddenly catching them at the right time and playing well down the stretch with their up-and-coming young nucleus of quarterback Brandon Weeden, running backs Trent Richardson, Montario Hardesty and wide receivers Josh Gordon and Greg Little.
