Breaking: Sean Lee Torn ACL, Out for the Year

Enemy Chatter

Sean Lee was injured earlier today during the first day of OTAs and after performing an MRI this afternoon, the bad news has been confirmed. Sean Lee has a torn left ACL and will miss the 2014 season.

Sean Lee has been plagued with injuries since his years at Penn State. You can now add the 2014 offseason OTAs. Unbelievable.

  • 2013 (Cowboys): Missed five games. Suffered hamstring injury Nov. 10 at New Orleans, missed two games; Suffered neck injury Dec. 9 at Chicago, missed three games.

  • 2012 (Cowboys): Missed 10 games. Suffered toe injury Oct. 21 at Carolina.

  • 2011 (Cowboys): Missed one game. Suffered a partially dislocated wrist Oct. 30 at Philadelphia, missed one game but returned and played most of the season with a cast/club for protection.

  • 2010 (Cowboys): Missed two games. Hamstring injury.

  • 2009 (Penn State): Missed three games with sprained knee.

  • 2008 (Penn State): Missed his senior season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in non-contact drills in spring practice. (ESPN)

The Cowboys drafted Anthony Hitchens in the 4th round specifically to insure them against Lee’s injury proneness, so he’ll be in the mix at MLB. The Cowboys could also look into shuffling players around. DeVonte Holloman or Bruce Carter could possible kick inside.

Other options could be signing a street free agent to bring into the mix and let Hitchens continue to grow into his position.

Names to keep an eye out would be: Jonathan Vilma, Dan Connor, Ernie Sims, or Pat Angerer

None of those names are that appealing to me, so we’ll see what shakes out.
