The Bruins draft slowed down in the latter rounds as they had only 4 picks in the last 4 rounds. Compared to the earlier round where the Bruins Had 6 picks in the first 2 rounds.
In the third round the Bruins had the 14th pick; with this pick they selected Daniel Vladar from Praha, Czech Republic. Vladar is 6’5″ 185 pounds, and he is only 17 years old. I would not expect to see much of Vladar for a long time. As of right now he is very low on the goalie depth chart and has some hard competition to pass. I can see the Bruins trading Vladar, or keeping him around for a long time behind Subban in Providence.
In the fourth round the Bruins also had the 14th pick and with that pick they selected Jesse Gabrielle from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada. Gabrielle is 6’0″, 203 pounds, left winger, who played for Regina in the WHL (Western Hockey League). Gabrielle reminds me a lot of a young Lucic. He is a man who plays an aggressive style of hockey and is very physical. He is a very effective fore-checker and skates with a lot of speed. Elite Prospects calls Gabrielle a “scrappy, skilled winger that can be difficult to play against”.
In the 6th round of the draft the Bruins selected Cameron Hughes from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Hughes is a Center/ Left Wing combo who is 5’11” and 161 pounds. I can’t tell you too much about Hughes as I have only seen him play for the University of Wisconsin. In his time with Wisconsin Hughes played 34 games scoring 3 goals and getting 10 assist. Not too sure what to expect from Hughes as he is more of a play-maker and a good passer.
Finally in the 7th and final round of the draft the Bruins selected Jack Becker from Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Becker is a 6″3″, 190 pound, center, who played for Mahtomedi in the High-NM league. Becker is really a shot in the dark for the Bruins. I would rank Becker as a low-risk draft pick. I don’t think he will do anything bad, but will he ever be playing in the NHL probably not.
