with all the chatter saying Marchand would go to the Penguins to play with Crosby the Bruins had to  act fast and they did.

Just this morning the Bruins announced that they have reached an agreement with Brad Marchand on an 8-year contract extension worth $49 million. That comes out to slightly over $6 Million a year.

This is a steal for Marchand he definitely took a hometown discount to stay with the Bruins. The unstoppable line of Sidney Crosby, Brad Marchand, and Patrice Bergeron has been dominating the world cup of hockey. So with Marchand taking a hometown discount are the Bruins going to go after Crosby?

Marchand is coming off of a career year with the Bruins last year where he scored 37 goals and had 24 assists. This is definitely the biggest move for the Bruins so far this season.
