Bruins Place Chara On Injured Reserve

According to Joe Haggerty of CSNNE the Boston Bruins have placed Captain Zdeno Chara on injured reserve. All of this coming after Chara left the September 24th preseason game against the New York Rangers with what we think is a lower-body injury.

If the Bruins confirm that Chara is on the IR he will miss a minimum of 7 days before he will be able to rejoin the roster. But there is a loophole as stated by Haggerty in the tweet above technically he may not miss any games as he is now eligible to come off anytime. All of this can happen because the placement to the IR can be retroactive to the date of the injury (September 24th), and with Chara being listed day-to-day he can come off of the IR anytime.

It could be a very interesting opening night without Chara. As of right now nobody knows what the defensive pairings are but without Chara I would think they would look like this. Torey Krug–Adam McQuaid, Matt Irwin–Kevan Miller, Joe Morrow–Zach Trotman.

Well without Chara in the lineup it is definitely safe to say we are a rookie team. Personally I would be excited to see the pairing on Matt Irwin and Kevan Miller. I was a fan of Irwin when he was with the Sharks he plays a very aggressive two-way game and paired up with Miller I think that can be a good combo.

Well we will have to wait and see what happens with opening day now only 3 days away, the Bruins still have a lot to figure out.
