Bruins vs. Red Wings Recap

The Bruins started off strong with a solid 40 minutes of play. In these 40 minutes the Bruins scored 3 times (Bergeron, Krejci, and Krug). Well putting terrific pressure on the Red Wings. Even though the Bruins took their foot off the gas pedal in the third period the 3 goals are all they would need to win 3-1.

Tuukka Rask has a solid night 23 of 24 shots. The one goal coming on the power play for the Red Wings.  Julien had this to say about Tuukka’s performance “Tuukka was really good tonight. He was really good, I thought, on the island [Brooklyn]. He’s had some good games. I think right now we keep looking back at some average games, but he’ll find his game. To me, I’m going to be backing him and supporting him all year long, because I know what kind of goaltender he is.”

But as normal the thorn in the Bruins side was the penalty kill. The Red Wings would get their first and only goal on the power play. The Bruins as of right now have the worst penalty kill in the league giving up 17 goals on 51 attempts. Julien had this to say about the failing penalty kill “Our penalty kill has been better. Even tonight, kind of a tough goal there, a couple of bounces and it goes right on their stick, but our penalty kill’s been better. Our five-on-four, in the last three games I’d say, has been pretty good, and even though we allowed a goal tonight and it looks bad on our penalty kill, overall I think our guys have been much better in its attention to details. But then again, tonight, a few times we’re not getting the puck out when we should, so we’ve got to keep working on it.”

The Bruins keep going on the season of ups and downs as they will try to continue the hot streak Tuesday night when they take on the Sharks.
