Bye Week Buyers: Week Six

In our Week Six edition of “Buy Week Buyers”, we’ll look at the top players to pick up with the Bills, Bengals, Panthers, Cardinals on a bye week.

Usual possible pickups plus some surprise match-up advantages are the players you should look at to finalize your week six starting lineup.

Top Players on Bye Week:

Quarterback – Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals
Running Back – DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
Running Back – Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals
Wide Receiver – Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
Wide Receiver – Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati Bengals
Wide Receiver – Terrelle Owens, Cincinnati Bengals
Defense – Carolina Panthers

Players to Pick-Up:

Quarterbacks

1. Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams
Bradford has played surprising well this year for a rookie, and by now, even with Michael Clayton out, you can tell he’s a solid spot start for most of the season. Against the Chargers who have been inconsistent on defense, he should have 200+ and a TD or two.

2. Matt Cassell, Kansas City Chiefs
Cassell has been developing still under offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, but against one of the worse pass defenses in the NFL in Houston, he should have a solid day for a spot start.

3. Jason Campbell, Oakland Raiders
He finished the game well for the Raiders last week, and as far as I’ve heard, he’ll have a chance again to prove himself. Against the 49ers, he or Gradkowski will be a solid start.

Running Backs

1. Michael Bush, Oakland Raiders
Bush finished last week on a very high note as the lead back with Darren McFadden injured. And this week, against the 49ers who have struggled mightily this year, he should get 20-25 carries and probably over 100 yards.

2. Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
With Marshawn Lynch gone, look for Fred Jackson to take advantage of his now guarenteed starting job and play well against the Vikings, who have given up some big chunks of yards against mediocre backs in the past.

3. Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
He’s been inconsistent in his production the past few weeks as a backup to Ahmad Bradshaw, but against the Lions, who have more of a pass rushing than run stopping defense, he could have a big day, especially in the red zone.

4. Jerome Harrison, Philadelphia Eagles
A recent trade over from Cleveland, Harrison will have a chance to get many carries with LeSean McCoy dealing with injury. He won’t have anything that major, but 60 and a possible score could be a decent risk.

5. Derrick Ward, Houston Texans
Ward has all be leaped Steve Slaton on the depth chart in Houston, and with Arian Foster still not at full strength, Ward should get 10-12 carries and a possible big play and/or touchdown.

Wide Receiver

1. Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Bucs
With the Bucs now a legit playoff contender and Josh Freeman proving his doubters wrong this far, Williams will be a solid fantasy start for much of the year.

2. Roy Williams, Dallas Cowboys
Williams has had over 10 points per game and 3 touchowns in his last two games, and with the Cowboys needing a must win, I expect him to continue to thrive and keep his job while Dez Bryant is hurt.

3. Davone Bess, Miami Dolphins
Bess has been considered a Wes Welker type player for the future with great plays in the slot and quick routes. He won’t have that type of production yet, but either way, he’s not a bad start or pick-up, just in case.

4. Danny Amendola, St. Louis Rams
With Bradford being a solid start this week against the Chargers, his top receiver, with Michael Clayton out, Amendola should get 5-10 catches.

5. Chris Chambers, Kansas City Chiefs
With the Texans having a poor pass defense and Dwayne Bowe having a serious case of the drops, Chambers will get lots of targets and could have a good game and a solid season.

Defense

1. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars defense hasn’t been great much of the season, but with the Titans offense often one dimensional (that dimension is Chris Johnson), if the Jags can hold him, it could be a low scoring game.

2. Cleveland Browns
The Browns are going to struggle mightily with Colt McCoy at the helm, but with Big Ben in his first start of the season, he could make a few mistakes.

3. Detroit Lions
The Giants offense has been hit or miss much of the season, and if the Lions can play like they did last week, holding the Rams to 6 points, and contain Hakeem Nicks, they could pull off the upset.
