Coming off a seven point victory against Baltimore Monday night, the New England Patriots once again fought through adversity to claim win number eleven, and move on to play Denver this Sunday in the altitude of lost dreams.
With Tom Brady bombing over 400 yards in the air this past Monday night, it was almost impossible for the defense to stop the nonstop aerial attack, simply because the Ravens lack the elite secondary. Granted, guys like Matt Elam and Jimmy Smith all belong in the NFL for a purpose, and they all have starting role abilities, but against a quarterback like Brady, the odds are quickly stacked against you. Utilizing Hogan was a smart move, and his after the catch abilities (79 yd TD run), it’s the inches that count in this league and potentially without Hogan or Edelman to say, who is able to make contact after the catch? The Patriots always have a answer.
For Denver, we know the infamous defense that they build themselves on, and it starts in the heart of the defense with LB Von Miller. Miller recently said to the media that Tom Brady is one of the most difficult players to play against, and praised his gifts as quarterback. As for Miller, arguably the best linebacker in all of football, his unbelievable ability to attack the quarterback in multiple ways. The pass defense in Denver has lived up to the expectations, while the Broncos rank 29th in the league for rush defense. Could this indicate a LeGarrette Blount showdown? We’ll find out tomorrow afternoon in Colorado.
