Another series, another sweep for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs moved on yesterday after a contested game in Toronto. With Kyle Lowry out, the Raptors struggled to find scoring and fell to the champs, 109-102. Lebron James once again led the Cavaliers in scoring and rebounds and minutes. Playing an absurd 46 of a possible 48 minutes, it seems that he is invincible. On the other side of the big three, Kyrie Irving once again shined scoring 27 points. It didn’t even matter that Kevin Love only scored 5 points on 2 for 7 shooting. As long as the Cavaliers have no. 23 suiting up, they seem like a lock for the Finals.
On the flip side, the Toronto Raptors fared even worse than they did last year when their team was considered weaker. They added players like Serge Ibaka and P.J. Tucker for a series just like this. Unfortunately, their additions did not help them against the power house Cavaliers. Even with 5 players scoring in double figures, they struggled to find an answer for Lebron. It was clear they missed All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry in the final game. News also came out today that Lowry will opt out of his contract and will become a free agent in July. With Lowry’s possible departure, it seems like the window could close on the Raptors postseason success.
The Cavaliers will once again get plenty of rest in before they face the Celtics or Wizards. They are scary no matter what, but if they are rested that’s another story.
