Celtics Chances In NBA Draft Lottery 2016

With the NBA Draft looming closer and closer, players are awaiting for what’s next in their journey to stardom and what the future holds. 14 teams are now waiting for the annual Draft Lottery to see who can make their team a contender out of the gate or try and let the player develop into the potential they can be.

Brad Stevens and company had a phenomenal year from the criticism they received early on but over the course of the year, they have developed into a team that can contend with the big dogs and be difference makers on the court. Now with the lottery, here are the outcomes that can happen with the C’s as that Brooklyn pick we received can make our team just one step better. Not to mention, Boston has a 15.6% chance of receiving the #1 pick.

  1. C’s get Buddy Hield, G out of Oklahoma with a very high pick (1,2,3). Hield has the unlimited range and can hit almost every shot on the court (does that remind you of someone? 2015-2016 NBA MVP?). Hield stands 6’4 and has a physical and pro ready frame that can withstand a beating. Hield is also 22 years old and is rated the #1 shooting guard in this draft by experts. A home run pick here that can leave teams dazed in the future.

2. If the C’s get say a later pick, maybe taking a second look at Kris Dunn, PG out of Providence. The hometown product has had 3 years of success with the Friars as Dunn is one of the most athletic point guards out there. Taking him would give more cushioning to the C’s depth chart of guards.

3. If the C’s fall out of the top 5 and start to slide downward, taking a developmental player if they are available. Henry Ellenson, Jaylen Brown, etc.

4. Trading this pick would be against all odds but the possibility is always looming. Landing a coveted free agent like say Kevin Durant or Paul George would cost the C’s a lot and this pick would be in negotiations as I would put it.
