Around New England, most people are familiar with the term Collective Bargaining Agreement, and that is also playing a part in this recent development in the NBA.
According to the league’s agreement, teams are allowed to have an ad on their jersey as long as it measures no more than 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches on their jerseys. These changes will begin to roll out starting next season. Boston won’t be alone while sporting their advertisement though as the Celtics will be the third team to announce a deal, joining the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings.
The 76ers are currently in talks with StubHub to have their brand recognized on their jerseys, while the Kings are still negotiating a deal with Blue Diamond Almonds to sponsor them.
The Celtics are expected to make a formal announcement regarding the new deal this week.
