The season didn’t get off to the start he had wanted, but not due to anything basketball related. After Channing Frye’s mother passed he was excused from the team and missed two games. As soon as he returned though, he was electric.
Coming off of two straight quiet games in a row, we will look for him to return back to that form. His hot streak included 20 and 21 point performances, as well as a pair of clutch threes to put away both the 76ers and Raptors.
Even though his “A” game wasn’t needed to roll over the Pistons, it could have been used in their loss to the Pacers without LeBron. But his recent quiet play shouldn’t be a concern.
He’s had a great impact for the Cavs this season. They could easily have 2 more losses if it weren’t for his late game threes. For the season Frye is averaging 11 points and 3 rebounds in just 18 minutes per game. Not to mention that he’s shooting over 46% from deep in the Q.
After being held scoreless in 9 minutes against the Pistons, Frye will have plenty of time off before he and his team take the court again. Hopefully after their game heading into Thanksgiving, Frye will have given us good reason to appreciate his three-point shooting.
