The Chicago Bears announced Tuesday night that they’ve signed RB Benny Cunningham to a one-year contract.
Cunningham, 25, wound up signing on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State back in 2013. He’s managed to make the 53-man roster each of his four years in the NFL.
Cunningham was testing the open market for the first time in his career.
In 2016, Cunningham appeared in 11 games and rushed for 101 yards on 21 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 16 receptions for 91 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also totaled 559 kick return yards.

He’s been a consistent kickoff returner over his four years in the league and offers upside as a receiver out of the backfield too. The 26-year-old running back also had a visit with the New York Jets earlier this month.
