On a day where Cleveland fans were channel flipping between the Cleveland Browns game and last regular season Cleveland Indians game, the feisty orange-and-brown continued to impress on the field. Are the Browns really 2-2 and tied for first place in the AFC North after playing just 25% of the season?
Absolutely.
Led by the local boy, Brian Hoyer, the Browns beat up on the frustrated Cincinnati Bengals and made plays just like they did a week ago against the Minnesota Vikings. While Nick Swisher was belting a two-run homer to left 875 miles away, it was Hoyer taking the Browns to the locker room with another lead at halftime. The 26-year old’s efficiency and smart play led the offense to 17 points as the stout Cleveland defense did their job once again. It’s also safe to say the Browns have their “diamond in the rough” in Jordan Cameron. The tight end continues to make highlight reel plays and catches just about anything thrown his way. Cameron had 10 catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
By 4:00 PM, the Browns and Indians found themselves in the driver seat and close to bringing smiles to faces across Northeast Ohio. Memories of the mid 90’s flashed as car horns sounded and strangers slapped high fives passing by after the Browns game. It’s amazing what winning can do for a city’s morale.
Once again, Cleveland will be alive and full of electricity in just two and three days as the Indians will host the Wild Card game against either the Texas Rangers or Tampa Bay Rays. A day later on NFL Network in front of a national audience, the Browns host the Buffalo Bills. Isn’t it a great feeling when the teams that you root for are competitive again? Just don’t stop believing Cleveland diehards.
