Cowboys Address Offensive Line, What’s Next?

The Cowboys turned down a trade offer from the Jaguars and stayed at #9 to take Tyron Smith. Looks like Smith was the pick all along. So, Smith completes the offensive tackle needs; however, the Cowboys still have some weaknesses on the line – the guards. How does this come into play for the 2nd and 3rd rounds?

Is Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA, the target? Some would say the safety position needs upgrades, with Ball out of the picture, and we’re not sure about Sensabaugh. The Cowboys will have options with Eric Weddle or Mike Huff when free agency opens, possibly as early as Monday. I’m not so sure Moore is an instant impact starter, kinda reminds me of Tony Dixon who we took in the 2nd round, and that was a busted pick.

What about DE? DE was pretty much gobbled up in the 1st round, and there aren’t any names that really stick out to be an instant starter. There are some DT/NTs out there that could come in a play, like Kenrick Ellis and this could let Ratliff move out to DE and attack the quarterback.

There are some good cornerbacks with 2nd round grades available, Rahim Moore and Aaron Williams were some players the Cowboys brought in for a closer look. So, maybe one of those guys gets picked in the 2nd.  Some guards will be there too when we select #40. Could the Cowboys draft a cornerback for depth or another offensive lineman to replace Kosier or Davis.

Bottom line remains, the Cowboys could go any position here, we still have alot of weaknesses across the board. Defensive Line and Secondary to me are the most likely to be addressed in the 2nd round. We will see what name Charles Haley announces at the podium for us.
