Cowboys Could Go with Offensive Line/Running Back Early

With the draft just three days away, fans are eager to know who the Cowboys will take with the 18th pick in the first round. In past years there has been a consensus pick or even strong rumors of who we may draft – not this year. This year, has been very hush-hush as we enter the final stretch towards Thursday. I’ve pinged several of my reliable sources as I have in past years, and the well has been dry for the most part; however, I do have one interesting scenario one source told me this afternoon.

The Cowboys know the offense needs helps with the offensive line, but there’s a growing faction within the organization that has some real fears about our running game and don’t be surprised if the Cowboys draft a running back with the 18th pick, via a possible trade down if their first round offensive linemen are gone. The target I’m told could be Eddie Lacy, Alabama. The Cowboys have scouted Alabama players vigorously and attended several of the player workouts.

I’m told the Cowboys perfect scenario in the early parts of the draft would be a offensive lineman with a running back. The Cowboys offense suffered immensely once DeMarco Murray was injured, the Cowboys became completely one-dimensional as a result. If the Cowboys draft offensive line with their first pick a running back will be draft soon after. The Cowboys have several guys on the radar outside of Eddie Lacy. Montee Ball and Giovani Bernard are others that could be had early on in this draft in the 2-4 rounds.
