Cowboys Defeat Lions 24-20; Heading to Lambeau

Tony Romo

The Cowboys were able to overcome some really bad ref calls in the first half of the game. Some media want to talk about the Hitchens reversal call, but that was the right call.

The Cowboys got shafted on the bogus running into the kicker call, offensive penalty on Terrance Williams, and the one on Witten that wiped out Murray’s TD. Talk about those BS calls.

We overcame all the adversity that was thrown at us and we were able to answer with TDs and some clutch plays and clutch calls from Jason Garrett.

Here are my thoughts on the game:

Jason Garrett wanted to win this game, and the 4th down conversion call rather than punting was the highlight for me. The 4th and Goal for a TD was a great call too. Garrett made a gutsy call and it paid off.

Tony Romo had a good game, but he needs to throw the ball away instead of taking the sacks, that drove me crazy.

Terrance Williams showed up again, and is clearly playing at a higher level at just the perfect time. Keep those TDs coming.

Rolando McClain is unreliable when it comes to his health, seems to be a bit prone to not playing or practicing. We’ve seen it all year and I wonder if the Cowboys really bring him back. Yes, he makes plays, but you can’t when you miss games.

Anthony Hitchens played through his injury, tough player.

Brandon Carr gave up a few plays as expected, but he is playing better, especially in run defense. We’ll need more of the same against the Packers, so let’s go Carr!

DeMarcus Lawrence had a crazy final defensive drive that went from a fumble recovery fumble, to a forced fumble sack and recovery. Lawrence is making plays now, and the future is looking good. He’ll have a greater impact as the season goes and again in 2015.

Bruce Carter needed another good game and he came through big, with 3 pass deflections and near INT.

C.J. Spillman on special teams is becoming a player. I was impressed with Spillman in today’s game. Bring that same solid tackling an intensity to Green Bay. Good game!

Jeremy Mincey was a nice addition to this defense. I’m glad we signed him for a 2-yr deal. He had a nice game today.

Rod Marinelli will likely be a wanted man at season’s end, but I sure hope he stays in Dallas. This defense stepped up big in the 2nd half and this helped our offense make the big plays we needed in the 2nd half. We had some good field position thanks to the defense.

J.J. Wilcox needed another solid game and he delivered with some sound tackling. He led the team with 7 tackles, all solo. Good game!

Cole Beasley was a coverage nightmare for the Lions and he’ll do the same damage to the Packers.

Zack Martin showed why he is an All-Pro rookie. Martin was impressive when he matched up against Suh. Solid game against perhaps the best DT in the league. Impressive!

— Joe Buck is annoying. Please stick to baseball and go away. We cannot stand you.

The Cowboys will now face the Packers in Lambeau field and here is something to think about: The last time the Cowboys played in Lambeau was in 2010 under Wade Phillips. We got blown out and Phillips was fired. After that game Jason Garrett took over the team.

Jason Garrett will now take HIS team to Green Bay and it’ll be a different game. These 2014 Cowboys are playing with Garrett’s mantra of Fight. FinishTheFight continues on. I am pumped about this next game. No Fear!

Let’s go Dallas!
