I went to this game and it was something to experience, but I could see what Romo meant when he said it felt like an away game. The Texans fans showed up in a huge way. At times it felt like the stadium was louder when it came to Texans on defense, it was embarrassing.
We need the fans to take over the Stadium in a better way than what it has been. Last year I went to the Broncos game and there were a lot of their fans too. It’s probably not a stretch to think the home games are 40-50% opposing fans.
As for the game, it was a good test for both teams. JJ Watt will be the best defensive player the Cowboys see this year and for the most part the offensive line held him in check. Our offensive line is coming along and really getting a reputation at being possibly the best line in the NFL, and that’s real.
Here are my takes on the game:
- Justin Durant had a hell of a game, and backed up what he did last week. Durant is a Marinelli guy, and has taken his game to another level. Nice game.
- Henry Melton looked to be a bit more aggressive in this game, looked more disruptive. It was good to see Melton get after people.
- Rolando McClain is a solid linebacker, he could play himself into an extension at this rate. The linebackers could be insanely great if we have McClain and Lee on the field, plus Durant. Watch out.
- DeMarco Murray likes to fumble. Tired of that BS man, c’mon.
- Special Teams had their worst game of the year. Too many penalties put us in really bad field position most of the game.
- The offense was able to move the ball even with bad field position.
- Terrance Williams is official, there should be no doubts who the #2 WR is in Dallas and it’s not even close.
- I think we found our best starting CBs with Carr, Scandrick and Moore. They are playing good.
- This team is not folding or choking under pressure like they would have in previous years. I like how they are taking adversity, one play at a time.
- Jason Witten is the 3rd tight end in history to reach 10,000 yards. Gonzalez and Sharpe are the other two with the 10k mark.
- At what point does a Jason Garrett extension start to sound more realistic? Would a win in Seattle get those talks going? We’ll see.
- J.J. Wilcox had a nice game and made some solid tackles today.
- Would you pick the club option on Melton or Free at this point? Could be an argument that Free could be back in 2015.
Those are my takes on the game. I had a great time at AT&T Stadium, and the victory was a great one. The Cowboys take on the Seahawks next and this will be a true test against the Seattle defensive line. If the Cowboys will need to play a flawless game and make some plays on defense to win this next one. Great win today, but let’s keep it going!
Let’s go Dallas!
