Cowboys Had No Answers Tonight in 20-17 Loss to Redskins

bass foams

This game had all the makings for a trap game and the Cowboys fell head first into the trap and lost to a backup QB on a 2-5 squad. The Cowboys drop to 6-2 and look like mortals again. Eat that humble pie.

This game was a mess in every aspect. The Cowboys have a lot of work to do in preparation for the Cardinals.

Here is my take on the game.

Week 8 looked like Week 1 tonight. Dumb mistakes and poor execution. Sloppy play. Fumbles. All culminating in the loss.

— We can’t win all our games, but we can’t play like tonight and expect to win the game. Very disappointing.

Offensive coaches had all week to gameplan against a familiar defensive coordinator in Jim Haslett and we could not pick up the blitz. This was horrible preparation.

DeMarco Murry is at it again. Fumbling, and this time it cost us. We were going to score and he fumbled, hold off the contract talks on Murray. Does he need incentives to not fumble now or wth?

Tony Romo’s performance was heroic, but he was handcuffed to the blitz. The Redskins executed a blueprint to beat the Cowboys, so next week we better come out mad and dominate.

Rolando McClain had his poorest performance tonight. Bad angles in pursuit and sloppy tackling.

Joseph Randle had potential, but he fumbles too.

No Escobar, why? We had opportunities to pressure their secondary, but we opted to use Beasley more. Escobar is a bigger target and has a greater catch radius.

Orlando Scandrick is playing some good ball.

Henry Melton is starting to rack up sacks. He had 2 tonight.

We need DeMarcus Lawrence back, and hopefully he’ll be what we have been missing.

Ronald Leary is making a case for a contract extension. He stoned Hatcher all game, he was a non-factor.

Jeremy Parnell played well, but hopefully we can get Free back soon, so we can execute the jumbo package again on short yardage.

— Tony Romo took a big hit that took him out, and you have to wonder how he’ll feel the rest of the week. Is this another case where he finished the game and will have a closer look and need surgery?

#95 Lavar Edwards sucks, hopefully with D-Law back he won’t be out there wasting a defensive roster spot.

Lance Dunbar is good for screens and that’s it. If he lines up for a handoff he rarely get’s good yardage.

— How many people had visions of Jerry making a trade for Manziel if Romo was out indefinitely? Trade deadline is tomorrow.

— Cowboys are 1-1 in the division.

When the Cowboys play sloppy and turn the ball over, they have a hard time winning games, we had a few close games. But today, that type of play cost us. They really need to clean up a lot of things. This is why I still think this 2014 version of the Cowboys is 1991 version.

We have the upward tick, but we have more to work on and we need a marquee pass rusher.

We play the Cardinals on a short week. Our last home game before we make the jump over the big pond to play the Jaguars.

Let’s go Dallas!
