The Cowboys will be looking to win their 2nd consecutive game. DeMarco Murray has had career games against the Rams, and he’ll need that same production today for us to win this game. If I’m the Rams, I load up the box and I would test Romo’s arm. The Rams will want to see if Romo is still playing injured and force the ball in the air and hope for the bad decisions from the 49ers game.
Here are my keys to the game:
- Pass protection is an area the Cowboys offensive line has needed to improve on, so this will be an important area today.
- Continue to run the ball and control the time of possession.
- Feed DeMarco Murray the ball, and often
- Lance Dunbar and Gavin Escobar are not being used as we thought they would be, get the ball to them
- The defense should have a feasting on the 3rd string QB, but they better not think he’ll lay over, we need to keep the pressure on and create turnovers.
- Special teams needs to look like last week, and that means smart returns; smart touchbacks; and no muffed catches by Dwayne Harris.
- The defense will need to shutdown Zac Stacy as he’ll be the Rams primary souce of offense, if we do that, we should win this game
- Win the turnover battle and win the game. If the Rams force Romo to throw the ball a lot, watch out.
- If Claiborne struggles, then they need to put Scandrick in his spot and go with Moore in the slot. Not sure they are not making a mistake by not doing this to start the game.
- Anthony Hitchens will get the start at MLB, let’s hope he holds up there.
This is a game we should win, but one that could be an unnecessarily close game. It’ll come down to the trenches and Romo’s decision making.
Let’s go Cowboys!
