The Cowboys take on their second divisional game of the year against the Washington Redskin tonight and I expect a good game from the Cowboys. We want to keep the pressure on the rest of the division and get one step closer to some legitimate playoff hopes.
We won’t see RGKnee tonight, but we will see Colt McCoy with the start tonight and don’t let the backup think this will be an easy game. I think a lot of us got caught up in that frame of thought against the Rams and Davis had a nice game.
Here are my keys to victory:
— Defensively, we need to keep the pressure on McCoy. If you can rattle McCoy it’ll go a long way in gaining some takeaways.
— I expect the Cowboys to play DeSean Jackson similarly to how we played Harvin. He’s a big play guy, but we shouldn’t be scared of him. Last year the Cowboys corralled Jackon with the Eagles.
— Contain Pierre Garcon. Last year Carr had a hard time with Garcon and Scandrick took over the coverage duties and we were fine. We could see a repeat shift if Garcon eats up Carr. I don’t expect this to be the case, but keep an eye on it during the game.
— Big game from Tyrone Crawford. Crawford has found a home at the 3-tech and I expect him to have a career game as he trys to show his mentor Jason Hatcher that he can play big in big time games. Let’s go Crawford!
— Anthony Spencer had an okay game last week, but with more reps and a full week of practice Spencer is on track to get going in the pass rush area. Hopefully, we get some sacks tonight.
— Offensively, the Cowboys should be able to continue to run and the Redskins will get a good dose. Their secondary is banged up, so they’ll be relying on their front to pressure Romo. If they don’t get to Romo, we could see Dez and Terrance with another crushing game.
— Another week of Parnell. Parnell has held up, and he’ll get another stout test against the Redskins today with Kerrigan leading the rush. Parnell is looking to get more legitimacy as a starter in this league, so the lights will be on him tonight. Let’s hope he has another nice game!
— Feel El Patron. We saw Escobar with some nice catches last week and we could see his gametime expand. When Gavin is on the field we will pose a lot of mismatches against the Redskins beat up secondary.
— Dwayne Harris needs to concentrate and field the ball better, but will he? This guy scares me more than excites me. Yes, he can break one for a td, but it has not happened. He’s had more fumbles and bumbles in the return game this year, let’s hope he doesn’t hurt us. Do something positive Harris!
— Terrell McClain. I’m looking at him to continue to be stout at the 1-tech. If he can duplicate his game last week and build on it, we are going to be good at the DT spot for the long term.
Let’s go Cowboys!! Let’s get to 7-1
