Cowboys Looking to Trade Up in 2nd Round

The Cowboys have been busy behind the scenes during the draft. Yesterday the Cowboys had offers to move down from #4 and later the Cowboys were looking to move up to #19 and several teams right after for Paxton Lynch. So, we know the Cowboys are not necessarily going to stay put from #34 in the 2nd round.

Looks like the Cowboys are looking to move this evening —

The #Cowboys are attempting to trade up with the #Browns at No. 32, source said. The likely target is a pass-rusher.

If you looking at the traditional chart which isn’t always followed by teams, then the Cowboys moving from #34 to #32 would be a point differential of 30 points. The Browns would probably want a 4th round pick. Our #135 pick would fill the job; unfortunately, compensatory picks cannot be traded until the 2017 draft. So do the Cowboys give up their early 4th round pick at #101? This could happen, but the trade would be lopsided, so the Browns would need to thrown in a late round pick to “even it out”

There is also the possibility that the Cowboys could move Ron Leary and ship him to the Browns for their pick straight-up or some sort of player+pick combo.

Logic would suggest the Cowboys need to get to work on bolstering the defensive line. This will likely be defensive tackle or defensive end.

Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson was a 30-visit
Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky played well for Marinelli at the Senior Bowl

Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama is an outside shot, but I just have a hard time seeing the Cowboys trade up for a DT since they have depth there right now. So for me, the pick would need to bee Dodd or Spence.

Ofcourse, there is the chance the Cowboys still want their QB, and the prospect I’m hearing they like is Connor Cook, Michigan State. Cook was a 30-visit prospect.

Wide Receiver could be the darkhorse as well. Tyler Boyd, Pittsburgh could be a target in the 2nd round, he was a 30-visit prospect. It’s possible the Cowboys take a receiver this year in preperations of letting Terrance Williams walk next season.

Let’s hope we’re not looking at a TE in the 2nd round, that may crash Twitter…
