<![CDATA[The Cowboys made their second trade of the final day of the draft and moved up in the 5th round and selected Devin Street, WR, Pittsburgh #146 overall. The Cowboys needed to shore up the wide receiver stable and Street will come in and compete. The selection could be seen as Miles Austin’s replacement, and offer us insurance from a depth standpoint as well.
Details of the trade: Cowboys traded their 5th round pick and 7th round (#229)
The Cowboys had Street as a 3rd round grade and got him for the 5th and 7th round pick, so they feel there was great value with the pick. The Cowboys had their eye very close on Street throughout this draft process. Let go Street! Welcome to Cowboys Nation.
From Dane Bugler /CBS Sports:
WEAKNESSES: Lean-muscled and needs to spend more time in the weight room to develop his functional strength…will be pushed around by smaller defenders and needs to shed the “soft” label…tight lower body and struggles to create much separation in his breaks.
STRENGTHS: Good-sized target with long arms to catch the ball well away from his frame…natural plucker with soft hands to catch everything thrown his way – nice job locating and highpointing to come down with off-target throws…well-built with natural body control, using his size well, working the middle of the field and holding his own in traffic – terrific hand-eye coordination.
