The Cowboys have selected Ryan Russell, DE, Purdue in the 5th round, #163 overall.
This is a player I had as a possible DE early on in the process, as a sleeper pick and mocked him in my 7-round mock 1.0. I think this will be a nice addition, and he’ll be into the mix. He’s a local guy, and the Cowboys have had him on their radar as well. Ben Bloom worked him out at Purdue as well.
I like what the Cowboys are doing defensively, lots of depth with quality players.
Russell will project as a left end in rotation.
