Just as the boiling point is near for Steve Addazio, BC coach, for inadequate play calls, fans and experts agree that Addazio should of been relieved of his duties as head coach, but BC is riding out the rest of the season with Addazio (from what it looks like) as a 28-20 loss (3-4 on season) against Syracuse is putting more anger/frustration on the BC coaching staff.
Quarterback Patrick Towles for the Eagles tried to keep up with the Orange, as he threw for 45 yards and a pick but ran for 104 yards and a touchdown on ten carries. Rarely you will see a quarterback of Towles size and speed running for 104 yards on ten carries. On the receiving end, WR’s Michael Walker and Charlie Callinan combined for 59 yards on 5 catches, so this gives you an idea of what Towles has for weapons but tried to pick up the Eagles offense single-handily. On special teams, RB/KR Myles Willis brought life to the Eagles as he scored a 89 yard kick return to the house.
The defense for the Eagles gave up 28 points, but the bright spots showed through the entire game. Once again the highlight reel for Harold Landry continues as he now has 8 sacks through the year and racking a sack and a half through today’s match up along with 4 tackles (3 solo) and 2 quarterback hurries. Landry is slowly becoming one of the biggest threats in the ACC and scouts should be watching Landry closely as he looks to continue his dominance. Other than Landry, the Eagles were able to rack up 5 sacks on the Syracuse offense, but couldn’t get the win.
From the Syracuse side of the ball, QB Eric Dungey threw for a massive 434 yards (2nd highest in school history) and 3 scores to go along with one pick. Dungey threw for 32 completions in this game, when you look at this really carefully, is very impressive. Spreading the ball out to 5 different receivers (3 had 5 or more receptions) and scoring very efficiently drove the Orange past the Eagles to bring their record back up to .500 on the season at 4-4 along with being 2-2 within the ACC conference.
