La Salle 75, Duquesne 56
La Salle is out to prove it’s never too late to start a season anew, as the Explorers won their third-straight game and moved to 2-0 in the Atlantic 10 with a convincing win over the Dukes. La Salle received a season-high 23 points and 6 assists from Tyreek Duren, who drained 4-8 threes to continue his recent hot stretch of shooting. Duren is now 16-33 (48%) from three over his past 5 games; his getting back on track is a big reason for the Explorers’ excellent play of late.
Additionally, Steve Zack tallied his 8th double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds and played Duquesne standout Dominique McKoy to a draw. The top field goal shooter in the nation, McKoy actually lowered his 70% mark by going 5-9 and recording 15 points and 11 rebounds. The rest of his teammates didn’t provide much help as it seemed like countless Dukes shots barely rimmed out and the team shot just 36% overall. The hot-shooting Explorers will look to maintain their momentum when they return home for two games this upcoming week against Rhode Island and Temple.
