Boise vs, Georgia post game thoughts & surprises

The Bull Dogs were everything I thought them to be, big, fast and young.

Aaron certainly has the arm to get it done and I can see why everyone thinks him the best the SEC has to offer at the position. Aaron however is no Kellen Moore, the contrast in total skill versus knowledge experience and ability was huge. Not to say Aaron can’t get there, but despite already playing one year in  what many pundits think is the best conference in the NCAA, he still lacks so many of the leadership qualities of Kellen Moore, but then again who doesn’t. Kellen Moore has such a command for the game, how many QB’s in college today have the authority to changes plays like Kellen Moore, hell there are NFL QB’s that don’t have that kind of authority. Kellen Moore showed last night he is something special; the only sad thing to say about Moore is we may not see him like we did last night again until next year in a BCS Bowl in January.

Kellen Moore

There were many standout performers for the Bronco’s for me last night;  for all the talk about Georgia’s O-lines size I was actually finding myself getting concerned, was my arguments going to be proved out that size doesn’t equal strength speed and skill? Well the Boise Line proved me right with 6 sacks of Aaron and 4 tackles for loss. Billy Winn was quietly punishing the interior of the Georgia line, as the game went on you could see the wear taking hold, Shea McClellin proved to be impossible to scheme against he was everywhere and all over Aaron. Tyrone Crawford sack early in the second however might have been the most important of the game as it took out a key part of Georgia’s O line  while laying Aaron out on the for a 2 yard loss killing Georgia’s chances of responding to a Boise Touch town and forcing a punt deep in their own territory.

It was obvious to this viewer Boise didn’t have a very big heads up on the tribulations of the Dutch three by the play of the capable but not yet experience backs up’s of Cedric Febis, however the rise Jerrell Gavins more than made up for it, What I saw from Gavins made me completely forget the last two Bronco’s who played that and now in the NFL . Gavins int late in the second reminded me of the plays I watched Charles Woodson make for Michigan, he was that dominate and impressive, linebacker play and safety play was the only place one might find a weakness in this Boise Defense but I’m not worried about it, Iloka is the real deal and coach will get the rest of these guys coached up in the coming days and when he does Boise will have a predominate elite D in all of college football.

On offense new names and old ones proved Boise is loaded at every position, O-line no doubt showed they are for real with all the talk of Georgia’s D-line size and speed, which is for real, they never got to Kellen once and only touched him twice, I’m sure every team that is going to play this Georgia team in the future is right now reviewing what Boise did to keep that D of Georgia’s at bay. Doug Martin did nothing but extend his legend of being a beast, his power runs hit the Georgia D like a hammer punishing tacklers along the way, his 3rd down run late in fourth quarter run to extend a time killing drive was so impressive it’s beyond comparison, watching him launch into Branden Smith sending him air born while having another Georgia defender on his back, what can you say. D.J Harper so good to see you back and frankly you look better then every, What a great contrast these to backs make both of power one straight in your face moral killer the other with some razzle dazzle arm breaker who in the NCAA wouldn’t take either of these two tomorrow let alone to have them both!

Hello Mr.Miller it’s good to finally meet you, I’m without words young man, you have certainly insured we will have years of enjoyment ahead of us, more on you on a later date . Mr. Burroughs WOW good to have you back and you reminded me why I missed you last year, Tyler Shoemaker solid as ever however there is the issue of the one drop, I’m sure you won’t let that happen again. Tight ends typical as ever blocking, pass protecting and clutch catches Efaw solid game, other than one missed block on a running play the TE’s played a major roll keeping Kellen clean.

Special teams were special across the board, word to other kick returners out there please tweet coach to kick to you! Georgia came into the game with what was believed to be one of the best special teams in the country and you know what they do! And the fact that Boise on all but 2 occasions pinned the Dawgs deep on punts and kick off’s , that was an impressive showing by them, and just as important to the outcome of this game as either the offense or defense.

Brad Eklin is a weapon none of us knew we had with all the talk coming out of camp I was left with the impression if we just keep them from scoring on ever kick that will be good, well Boise’s special teams proved up to the task and then some. Just one piece of that puzzle yet to see and that is field goals, while kicking extra points two things stood out to me velocity and a nasty slice, while the velocity made me think of Jason Hansen that slice made me think of my golf game, I’m sure they are working on it.

For most viewers I’m sure it came through this is a team, you don’t beat a team like George by only being good at a few things you need to have the whole package because they sure do. I know many especially in Georgia are down on their team this will be short lived as it will become clear next week the Dawgs are back, they just drew the wrong to team to start their resurgence with and for taking the game Georgia needs to be commended.
