David Ortiz could be in some trouble after his comments about Blue Jays designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion.
After Tuesday’s All-Star game David Ortiz was asked about who he would like his replacement to be. He responded by saying “The Red Sox know also they need to bring a force in the middle of the lineup (after I retire);” Ortiz told the media Tuesday.”And sorry, Blue Jays, but who better than Encarnacion to do that?”
This statement is under investigation by the MLB for potentially violating the MLB’s policy on tampering.
This news was broken by Sportsnet 590 The Fan Jeff Blair over Twitter. He also noted in his tweet that not just executive can violate tampering policies players can too.
Ortiz also hinted towards going after Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez.
