Everyone always wonders what football players do on their days off. Some may watch film or hit the weight room for some extra reps but today Devin McCourty would give back to the community.
The Patriots safety surprised young children at the Boston Children’s Hospital. At the hospital McCourty joined in on a game of football bingo. Today’s event was for McCourty’s “Tackle Sickle Cell” campaign. Devin is not alone as his brother Jason who is a Cornerback for the Titans is also part of the campaign.
“Tackle Sickle Cell” is a campaign that aims to educate the public, increase blood donations, and raise money & awareness for the fight against sickle cell disease.
McCourty had this to say about his bingo event: “The best part is that I’ve been able to meet a bunch of young adults and young children that I’ve developed a relationship with. To come around and see them smile; see them have fun, whether it’s bingo day or some of them get to come to an event and have fun for a little while – just to be a part of that is a blessing,”
I always find it nice to hear about the good stuff players do off the field. I feel all we hear about now is the bad stuff.
